About
Survive a journey across space in the Auriga Vault, an interstellar gothic monastery crewed by the last remaining exiles of a terrible disaster. Explore hostile solar systems, construct outposts, and craft precious materials to keep your crew alive. During the long hibernation between suns, expand the knowledge and ability of your exiles, and delay the arrival of The Gloom.
The Banished Vault is a run-based strategy game of solar system exploration, resource and crew management, and outpost construction.
Procedurally generated solar systems are displayed as realistic energy maps, with various bodies presenting different challenges. Plan your movements carefully, as engines and fuel behave according to a simplified but punishing rocket equation.
Construct outposts in orbit and on planet surfaces, considering the space needed, hazards, and accessibility. Resources are not tracked globally, and must be harvested and transported by your star ships from various locations to be used.
Search for artifacts to bring back to the Vault to unlock abilities for your exiles and new buildings to construct. Dice challenges test your exiles’ faith enduring hazards in a hostile universe.
Complete your run by surviving long enough to write the story of your Vault and transmit it home. The voyage is challenging - your exiles might die or be left behind. If you are reduced to one exile, the journey fails. No one can survive alone.
Unique gameplay and solar system presentation using simplified but realistic math.
Challenging and permanent decisions reward planning and careful play.
Tense risk management and exploration involving dice challenges and unforeseen outcomes.
Gorgeous hand-drawn art and board game style aesthetic.
A stark and hostile original setting inspired by Alien and The Book of the New Sun.
An extensive and carefully written manual that combines tutorial, game explanation, and reference guide.

A pretty original tabletop aimed at resource management. To play well you'll need to plan a lot, so some people may find it frustrating. But those, who like to optimize things, will like it a lot, in my opinion. After a bit of a steep learning curve. Very nice visuals/sound also.
Not for the faint of heart, but I intend to go back and get all the achievements for it. The atmosphere of the whole game captured my imagination greatly. I've never experienced such a nailbiter when rolling dice before, but its hard not to be on the edge of your seat when a multi-hour plan is coming down to luck in its final steps. For those who might be stuck... charting a solar system's Delta-v maps on a spreadsheet, running calculations with the in-game energy calculator and pen and paper, and mapping out moves well in advance helped greatly in my third (and finally, successful) attempt at this one. I look forward to Lunar Division/Nic Trangali's next game as a result.
It's simple but effective. It has good atmosphere, mostly from the soundscape and the line art drawings. It really makes you focus and double check your work, nothing is worse than taking a dangerous journey only to realize you didn't bring enough with you to build what you need to when you get there. The 6 hours I played my first journey flew by. But, now that I'm done there isn't much to go back for. What it could have used is unlockable characters with unique abilities like with the pilots in Into the Breech.
Не покупайтесь на стиль, это однообразная одноклеточная псевдонастолка
I like the mood and concept. Game for dire sf fans. It reminds me a Hyperion kind of space travel.
Непонятная фигня какая-то.
Очень красивый стиль игры и атмосфера, но максимально унылый геймплей, ноль желания играть в это душнилово.
One of the best games I ever played, Very crunchy space exploration game with high level of difficulty that is consistent, it has the feeling of an oldschool dungeon crawl where you need to keep track for resources and decide how it is the most efficient way to expend material and time, the world building is amazing and the way the game wants you too plan ahead and play slowly is actually very calming.
Truly a unique strategy experience, one for folks who like a risk and reward plotting aspect tied into some of the juiciest fantastical science fiction I have gotten to experience in a long while.
Music and Art are absolutely the game's strongest point. The board gamey feel, the sound effects like your picking up and moving pieces as they go through actions. I'll open the game just to listen to the music while working on other stuff. The black and white art style in some of the pictures, the lore (such that there is) is quite interesting to chew on. It does have a couple stumbling blocks. As some others point out it can be a bit *too* board game-like for a computer game. There are a few repetitive elements that start eating up time which could be better handled/automated or options for how to manage them given. Tracking upgrades in a run would also help a lot- the manual you can reference simply lists *everything*, whether you can actually build it or not. You have to actually have a piece prepared to try and build a structure before you can even check for it if you take a break between sessions and forget what you might have (especially in a longer run but still dont have everything). This can be killer when balancing cargo space and your overall strategic plan when going to a new system. It is difficult to recommend at full price, for the total content and the longer-term gameplay experience as it is when I write this. But I'm still incredibly happy to have been able to pick it up at a mild sale and play through it. And if someone finds many of its elements up their ally, it could be one to keep tabs on for when your budget aligns to pick it up- or if there are ever any updates/expansions to it. It feels like there could be many ways for the game to be improved and I hope I can have an excuse to come back to it beyond personal goals and achievement hunting.
