Similar to Doc Apocalypse, this is a game from the same developer that is rather difficult to review. This is a point and click style sci fi game that is what I'd call a mixed bag, but could definitely have specific appeal to fans of old school adventure games and 90s/early 2000s sci fi cheese and antiquated but interesting 3d cutscenes. On the surface to the casual player this comes off as perhaps an antiquated, visually dated relic, many may be turned off by the slow pacing and rough point and click interface. But as someone who enjoys these more independent/small productions there's a definitive charm to the entire project, something that crosses over into so bad it's good or even entertaining at many points. The voice acting I would say fits tonally with the bizarre nature of the areas you're exploring, the visuals have a dated but gritty stylized look to them that reminds me of games from the 90s. The atmosphere is pretty nice, with decent sound effects and an effective music score. The characters are interesting enough for what they are but I would have preferred a slightly larger cast of characters to interact with. Mr. Keys the talking spider typewriter stands out as a very surreal but interesting character. The plot can get difficult to follow and borderline nonsensical at times, putting you in the shoes of two secret agents swept up into a conspiracy involving superpowers, aliens, the illuminati and government agencies, trying to get to the truth and save humanity from a horrible fate. It genuinely feels like a sci-fi B movie in the most flattering and good way possible, when the script stumbles sometimes I was able to laugh along with it, and especially toward the end some of the monologues emotionally hit me and had a lot of earnestness to it, causing you to reflect on the path humanity is going to take in the future. It's not the most groundbreaking or coherent narrative of all time but it gets the job done and still is an entertaining adventure, much like Doc Apocalypse. The design of the main hub in particular is quite interesting, very atmospheric in a dystopian way, and I liked the designs of the robots, cockroaches and in particular the nice alien gentleman that runs the pawn shop. There's plenty of humor, in jokes and even red herrings to find, with some funny dialogue that made me chuckle. For achievement hunters the game isn't all that hard, other than needing to find all the collectable "useless" items and acquiring points for specific actions. Anyone looking for a wacky, fun throwback to old school adventure games should be able to look past the clunky UI and some of the mediocre elements to find a lot of things to like, but people with little "gaming patience" may get frustrated by the amount of dialogue and sometimes difficult puzzles.
Good voice dialogue, poor game play experience. Having to click everything twice with both characters and it do nothing 95% makes it extremely boring. The game does try to be funny by having your character basically call you an idiot for clicking certain objects but when you are forced to use process of elimination to progress, the remarks get old pretty quickly. The only way you learn to progress is by wasting time clicking everything with both characters. Not really much there to guide you. I read nothing about this being a puzzle game, and it really isn't but it feels like it. You literally have to click every single object. If you're going to buy it, get it for 10 cents. I got bored after chapter 2, maybe it got better later on but there wasn't enough to keep me entertained and I'm not clicking every object multiple times and switching characters for pointless reasons for the next 5 hours. Not to mention playing in 1440p locks you in a small screen, stuck in exclusive fullscreen mode with no way to change it.
This was Terribly Fantastic!!! Plain and simple if you like Broken Sword, then you'll love the story line and the collection / Puzzle point and click basis. It plays like those games do, they really do, but then imagine if they were made in like a week or less instead of like months or a couple years however long it usually takes. Hence the Terribly Fantastic. lol, omg the voice acting, I thought i was going to piss myself multiple times with the corny one liners, and when that moron fell in the hole at the foot of the hangar door and the chick was just like oops. ROTFL. I F***ing loved this game! Its honestly worth more than what did i pay for this .99? yah i feel like i thrift shopped a gold mine here if only it came with your grandpas coat and the velcros. give it time and it will be an insanely sought after cult game for some reason. THERE BETTER BE MORE, Oh yah and bisco and severt say seven fingers up for this one
I am 32 years old. My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old. When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing. Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side. With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of you. In fact, I may have played this game for only a day or two. That being said, after doing so, I had a new joy and hope for life. I managed to leave behind the pain and suffering that had been thrust upon me. I could experience the joy and happiness of other people. I relaxed for 5 ♥♥♥♥ minutes listening to this music, long enough to realize that I would be okay. After realizing this, I turned off the game and went back to work. My hand hurt a lot, but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so sorry for myself and became the father I needed to be at that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving like. Today, I am close friends with the mother of my children. We don't fight, argue, or say hurtful things to each other. We are parents and friends. Now I have 3 children. My third child is, wait, ALSO 4 YEARS OLD. The woman I am with was going through a very similar situation at the time of my separation, and we just unexpectedly stumbled into each other's lives. We have been dating for a year and are very happy together. Moral of the story: you never know what life has in store for you, and if I had given up when all odds were against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that. Thank you.
For a long time, I have only played TF2. I've wanted to play my backlog, but always I'm frozen by choice. Finally, I found a way, I will play them A - Z. So, How does this game hold up? The Apotheosis Project is a point and click adventure. Alas, it's quite archaic for a game that came out in 2014. It follows many of the old school tropes of classic point and click adventures (pixel hunting). In addition to that, it includes a large number of useless obtainable objects who's only purpose is to get an achievement for collecting all the useless objects. Perhaps if the story were something special I could recommend this game, but this story is average and the voice acting under average. If you're looking for a hidden gem of a point and click adventure, or even a diamond in the rough, look elsewhere.
This is a fun point and click adventure game. I had trouble pixel hunting though. Story – 7/10 Graphics – 7/10 Sound – 6/10 Gameplay – 6/10
The Apotheosis Project (2015, разработчик — Midian Design, издатель — Screen 7) — point‑and‑click‑приключение в жанре научной фантастики.
I'm a big fan of Point & Click Adventure Games and during my downtime over the Festive Period I wanted to try and get through as many of these as I could. I realise giving this a 'No' can come across as a little harsh but I want to comment on why it is I felt this wasn't deserving of a recommendation from me. The Character Swapping Mechanic: This was done far far better in the Blackwell Series of Games by Wadjet. There's something unique here in that you can stop your partner following you but honestly I never actually needed this, it would be far better to have just left that alone rather than making it a feature and then rendering it immediately redundant to the gameplay mechanic. Inventory Sharing: Each character has their own inventory and scrolling it takes time and effort so I found it easier to just dump crap on one of the characters that I later discovered in my playthrough I was never gonna need (See: Wooden Spoon). The Art Style: This is where i'm gonna be harsh. I disliked the art style. It felt like it was trying to evoke retro graphics of Broken Sword too much whereas I would've preferred a crisper and more polished look for something beyond Broken Sword 1/2. The Sound: Actually really good, I genuinely enjoyed some of the background tracks, I especially liked the one on the city streets although that area felt small and could've been fleshed out a little more. The Story: What even was that? We went from Indiana Jones to Aliens and it felt like there was little inbetween to justify the ass-pull of aliens invading. That was stupid. It ruined my enjoyment. Also the character of Pandora especially deserves special mention for Line Delivery from the VA's. She was ESPECIALLY wooden, just bad... Not a good game.
