Modeled estimate, not a reported figure. How we estimate →
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Charts
Each storefront's own chart, in its own country — the closest public signal to sales where none is published. A country missing from a list is one we don't collect there, not one where the game doesn't chart.
No United States chart position — it charts only in the markets below.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Too few observations to say whether a discount moves this store's chart at all: across the last 30 days Steam · Top Sellers · Poland has just 18 day-to-day chart moves that followed a price cut, against 2,498 that did not. We are publishing the count instead of a direction — 20 is the fewest we will draw a conclusion from, and price collection outside the United States began on 6 August 2026.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 5: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

This game is a bit of a slow burn, I think the start is a little rough unfortunately highlighting its worst qualities for the first few hours. But if you give it time, it continues to improve the story gets much better, the freedom both in terms of movement and abilities and exploration get better. The bosses become more involved. Honestly it just kleeps improving all the way to the end by which point I thought it was excellent. Also this is by far the best looking HD2D game from square yet, everything is just so beautiful. Recommend playing on hard difficulty and using JP voices as the english direction is a bit stilted.
GOOD
Simply the best non-zelda zelda-like I ever played....

This review comes after completing the game 100%, including all achievements. The main and most-discussed qualities of Elliot are apparent right from the very first hours: beautiful art, an outstanding soundtrack, solid controls and combat clearly inspired by the best entries in the Ys series, fun Zelda-like exploration, and a stellar cast of voice actors (that is, if you play with Japanese audio). Many reviews here already cover these strengths. I would like to highlight what I personally enjoyed the most, which I haven’t seen discussed nearly enough: the worldbuilding and narrative. I can only assume that people complaining about the writing haven’t properly engaged with the game or only looked at it superficially. There is an incredible amount of precious information to discover and piece together by talking to characters across all four ages. Basically every named NPC (and even a few generic ones) can be connected to a particular family lineage, and every minute I spent trying to figure it out was pure joy. Sure, it’s not overly complicated, and the most important connections are eventually revealed through the main story or manuscripts, but there’s a real sense of satisfaction in discovering them yourself first. And not every connection is covered by quests. Off the top of my head, I can think of a few cases where understanding how different characters are related across eras (and within the same age) requires going out of your way to talk to them in town at specific moments. Sometimes, this might even trigger a hidden short cutscene! Trying to predict and connect the pieces of this intergenerational puzzle was one of the most memorable experiences I’ve had recently in a game. The side quests are a big part of that experience. I’ve seen negative reviews call them busywork or shallow, but I disagree. Yes, there’s a fetch-quest element, but the game respects your time. The brief gameplay loops serve to tell incredibly personal stories that tie directly into the overarching plot. These quests are far from filler. In fact, many were actually my favorite parts of the adventure. They flesh out important side characters and their contributions to a better future. Most importantly, every interaction pays off. The writers built this world so carefully that, if you pay attention, not a single thread is left hanging by the end. There is another common complaint I would like to address, and that is performance issues: While I believe Square should be more proactive in recognizing and addressing them here on Steam, I’d encourage anyone reading this to try the game for themselves before writing it off. Despite many reports of problems with Intel 13th/14th-gen processors, I experienced zero issues on my 13700KF across roughly 40 hours of play. That said, I recommend capping the game at 60fps at 2K resolution and using Lossless Scaling for additional frame generation if you have similar hardware, as Elliot does not seem particularly well-optimized for PC. All in all, I cannot recommend this game enough to fans of the Ys series, top-down Zelda games, and other Team Asano titles. It’s easily a personal GOTY contender for me, and I hope the developers are proud of the amazing world they’ve created. With such a perfectly-tied ending it is hard to imagine any kind of sequel in this same universe, but I’m still very excited to see what Team Asano does next in the action RPG genre!
