About
The year is 1997.
Listening stations have detected a massive, non-biological sonar anomaly at the bottom of a remote sector of the Pacific Ocean. Its acoustic signature matches no known terrestrial vessel, and its exact location remains unknown.
You are sent in a small submersible to investigate possible targets, identify the source of the signal, and report your findings back to the surface.
The Abyss Below is a short PSX-style deep-sea psychological horror game about isolation, limited visibility, and discovering something that should not exist. The entire experience is designed to be played in a single sitting, taking about an hour to complete.
Visibility is almost zero, and there is no clean HUD. Use the physical instruments inside your cockpit to stay on course: sonar, depth, map, and onboard telemetry.
Follow coordinates and read sonar returns as you move through dark underwater terrain. Your front window only shows fragments of what is ahead — the rest must be understood through sound, signals, and instruments.
Reach each target, maneuver into optimal range, and use onboard sensors to send scan data back to the surface.
Each scan reveals another piece of the mystery, drawing you closer to the source of the anomaly.
Follow the trail of strange targets through the dark and send your findings back to the surface.
What begins as a search for an unknown sonar anomaly gradually leads toward something hidden beneath the seafloor. Distorted radio contact, impossible structures, and unexplained signals begin to reshape the mission piece by piece.
Something down there has been waiting for a very long time.
And every scan brings you closer to it.

这游戏就是在光秃秃的海底开将近一个小时的潜艇,而且最后几乎什么都没有,突然就结束了。所以,快跑!
Its Short. The story is cool, but it leaves you hanging after building up intrigue. I enjoyed what there was so it gets a positive review, but its frustrating how the story cuts off and I would have like more story and game time
This was fun. I will recommend this to friends and family. It is short 83 mins including one death - the welding! Left me wanting more and with lots of questions. I submitted the feedback questionnaire. Good game, well done.
The Abyss Below pulls a lot of inspiration from Iron Lung. A LOT. And while it manages to do a few things differently it struggles stand out as its own. It feels too familiar to other games that have tried to do the same. The pacing of this one feels extremely sluggish and the defining moments in between traveling to points of interest were not frequent enough nor spectacular enough to feel like my time was worth it. In the end, when The Abyss Below finally starts to stand out and do things differently the voyage is quickly over.
i like the setting and the atmosphere. a little to short for the story to hit me, but fair pricing. don't expect horror but tension and immersion. i had fun with this short game :)
This game is...fine? I did have fun and there were a couple spoops. Yes, it is very much like Iron Lung so if you are looking for more this one might do it for you. The thing that I disliked the most about this was the guy on the radio talking about how weird the things you scanning were for like 5 minutes. It kinda felt 'tell' instead of 'show'. I think if after a scan the computer showed like, metal composition and age ect. and tried to make a conclusion, it could do what the guy does but leave it to the player to fill in the blanks. I liked the cave section and also the squid
what if iron lung had 0 tension and was pretty easy. they do take away your vision later, but you aren't navigating using your instruments as much as just looking at a minimap the whole game. hardest part is when the inexplicably just like flip your map upside down when you left out the top of a different map then the next map they give up is flipped orientation. the maps have no info on them, no compass, no lat or long, so like, kinda pointless for the most part.
In my opinion a little bit too short for the price. Intriguing but it ends when the story starts to catch on. I hope the developers will extend this game before working on something else.
A fun little game, decent horror elements and good tension and mystery but did feel pretty short, definitely felt like it could have done more. For example there are a few levers and fuses inside that look like they could have been gameplay elements but aren't, and the idea of doing more to maintain the submarine that could have been fun. Also it feels pretty short, well worth the price mind you, but it could have done more and lasted longer without overstaying it's welcome. Overall a great experience, worth picking up!
