About
Hello there! I'm Terry Cavanagh, and I'm a game designer. Maybe you've played some of my games before? I made the C64-inspired gravity-flipping platformer VVVVVV, the minimal action game Super Hexagon, and the dice placement dungeon crawler Dicey Dungeons.
Those are my commercial releases. But I've been making games since I was a kid, and along the way I've worked on a lot of stuff! Most of these games are very hard to get running nowadays, even some of the ones that are only a few years old - computers change and things slowly break.
Making these other games has always been a really important part of how I work, and they include some of my very favourite projects. So I decided to bring some of the best of them together in one big easy-to-play collection, as "Terry's Other Games"! It's a little window into what making indie games has been like for me, from where I started to where I am now.
The collection includes a few reasonably substantial games, including:
Don't Look Back: a retro platformer from the Flash game era
At a Distance: an exploration/puzzle game for two players
Naya's Quest: an isometric puzzle game about weird perspectives
Tiny Heist: a fun and fairly tricky roguelike stealth game
Mr Platformer: he jump on the platforms
But it also includes a bunch of smaller, messier games - experimental games made in a weekend, an unfinished prototype, joke games I made for game jams, a game I made as a teenager. Here are a few titles at random: The Hunt, Radio Silence, A Proper Cup of Tea, memrrtiks suashem, Maverick Bird.
I hope you find something here you like!

Terry is from my home county, and the stony grey soil can be felt underfoot while I play these games. Playing Terry's games is like having a conversation with him. "ah, yup Terry, that's clever", I say, or "HA Terry, I cheesed that sequence but that's probably what you wanted me to do anyway", or simply "TERRY" when that police car hits me for the 25th time before I realise I can just drive on the footpath. Terry, you're an imp, and that shines through while I'm in dialogue with you as a game designer. So many things in life are about good communication, and your communication with me as a player is incredibly enjoyable.
I love Tiny Heist
I haven't played much of the game, but it's good so far! Terry is a great developer, and I still have fond memories of, about a decade ago, playing VVVVVV on my 3DS and later Don't Look Back and Super Hexagon on my iPhone 5! I wanted to mention a few aspects of this release that aren't clear on the store page, but may be of interest to those considering this game. This release has accessibility options! You can disable screen shake effects, screen flashes, and enable reduced motion. There's support for 21 different languages (wow!) For display options, you can enable fullscreen and Screen Scaling -- Letterbox or Pixel Perfect. No resolution settings, but this seems to support 4K. There are three different sound adjustment options -- Main, Music, and SFX. Each of the 10 titles has 1-3 paragraphs (usually at least 2) of developer insights into the creation of these games. The games also have hints or other bits of information on the credits screen. Pretty neat!
Well, it's a collection of 15-ish ofTerry's other games. Basically everything that is not one of his major hits like VVVVVVVVVVVV, Super Hexagon or Dicey Dungeons. Some very old projects, some prototypes, a very wide range of genres. But almost all of them are fun to play. Easy recommendation.
I bought this collection specifically to play Tiny Heist. I played that game all the time on CoolMathGames in middle school, and I am very happy to finally have a proper version of it that I can play on Steam Deck, and in my opinion the price is worth it for that game alone (although I also had a fun time checking out all the other games, many fun ideas, and I especially loved all of the “trainwrecks” games. Tiny Heist is a fast paced roguelike stealth game with incredibly punishing difficulty, where one mistake could mean going back to the start. The only other game I know to compare it to is the mystery dungeon series, where the game takes place on a grid and everything only moves at the same time you do. Each level is randomly generated so you never know what to expect, the goal being to collect gems and make your way to the staircase of each level, attempting to go undetected by avoiding the lights of cameras and guards. If you touch an enemy, you’ll knock it out for a short period of time, but spend too much time in a level and more guards will begin to come in through the entrance. In addition, there is a large variety of single-use items of varying rarities to help you play smart, get out of a bad situation, or skip through a level. Overall it’s still a very fun game, and I highly recommend it. As for the collection as a whole, I really love the variety and personality on display from Terry, although I really wish there was more insight from him about his games, I’d really like to hear more about the backstories of them than just a single paragraph per entry.
Wonderful collection of two decades worth of rad games from one of the freeware dev greats. The games run great, the launcher is gorgeous, and the commentary's lovely. It's everything you'd want out of a package like this.
I have played Tiny Heist in boring classes on flash sites for about 5+ years. I think it's the best flash game to ever do it. Me buying this is a thank you from me for making Tiny Heist.
Terry's Other Games offers: - One Great roguelike! - Multiple Good roguelikes - Multiple Good platformers - One Good unique two-player-cooperative puzzle experience - The best version of Flappy Bird I've ever played - A pile of unique and weird little Other Games For the price... that's a pretty darn-good deal! Hours upon hours of bite-sized videogame funtime!
I played Tiny Heist when I was 10. I didn't now Terry Cavanagh made it till now!
