This game is an intriguing side story in the world of muv-luv after the ending of unlimited. It has all the staples of alternative but in the initial storyline where ♥♥♥♥ really hit the fan. Muv-luv has really great world-building so it was interesting to see the consequences of Alternative V and further cements why stopping it is so vital. Major Jinguuji plays a massive role in this story but the new characters like Hibiki are also great in their own right. Hopefully the rest of TDA is also this level of quality.

Muv-Luv is really one of my all time favourite games. And Unlimited The Day After is also so good. It´s new cast is charming, it has it´s funny moments, but it´s athmosphere is also dark and sad. Really love it! Finished after 15 hours at a slow reading speed. Amazing game, really worth the money.

Liberties taken with localizing it to "modern" lingo has already dated this translation given the pace of the digital slang cycle, and makes the read at least a little tiresome as it stretches on. Literal 1:1 translation would read like ass, I get it, but that doesn't mean localization is inherently good, and I think the team behind the later Muvluv releases on Steam got a little ahead of themselves trying to make (some) characters sound like American teenagers. Something outside of the TL team's control is the sheer volume of exposition, most of which doesn't add a ton to the worldbuilding and could have been removed from the story altogether. It's hard to be sure how much is the TL team injecting more to baby the reader, or if the original really is this overly verbose. After reading a few R07 VNs, you get used to it all the same, but it still sucks. That said, it's more ML material in English - and when TDA 01 is good, it feels GOOD. Most of the characters are still much less annoying than early Takeru was, to boot, although it could do with not making the MC a target of what feels like a humiliation fetish by the writer(s). As Integrate moves further and further into dreamland, it's also some of the last ""new"" ML content we're likely to ever receive, in English or otherwise. The TDA bundle's worth it if you're a diehard fan after having read Extra/Unl/Alt, but to be fair, anyone reading this has probably already made up their minds about and bought at least 00 already. If you're not in love, you could skip, and always come back later when the Mubrub itch needs scratching. I do not recommend buying this at its standalone price. Go back and buy the entire bundle, even if you already grabbed 00. This is a bit longer and better bang for your buck, but it's 30 dollars a pop, which is a steep sell. Bundle or bust.
