Taxi over here!
We all know the good old classic 'Crazy Taxi' and boy did we have a lot of fun with it, Taxi Chaos makes an attempt to give us this experience again in 2021/2022. Taxi Chaos Gameplay: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WgLeotUFO6o To give a direct clarification, the game is close to Crazy Taxi but nowhere near the expectations we get from watching the Taxi Chaos trailer, A strong advantage is that the gameplay is almost identical to that of Crazy Taxi, you have to pick up passengers according to the difficulty of the ride which you can determine by the color that hangs around the passenger, you have a general timer that expires and every time you pick up or drop off a passenger there will be some time added to this timer, using the jump function (yes, your cars can jump to avoid traffic) and also using the many shortcuts the city has to offer will also determine the number of extra seconds you get on your timer. if you can serve enough passengers, you can unlock other vehicles that move faster and more efficiently. This is an addictive style of gameplay but despite this I didn't get the feeling that I want to unlock all the vehicles glued to my monitor. There is only 1 city, and the soundtrack is far from as stimulating as songs like the offspring and also the audio dialogues of the characters are a sequence of a number of different recordings that you will hear several times during 1 session, after a few sessions you will soon get tired of the sound part of the game. Also, there are only 2 characters available, a male and female, so you will not be able to choose a character based on style and looks, but according to gender, which is a major limitation in character favorites. Graphically I can't say it's wrong, the game gives a nice picture of how the experience of this type of game used to feel and excelled, although the entertaining factors of the rest of the game are very limited and feel free to add some more content , especially when you look at the current price of the game.
Not what I was expecting. Since Crazy Taxi is one of the only comparable game in this genre, I'll be using that as a basis. For starts, everything about this game is a watered down version of Crazy Taxi, even to the original. The game isn't nearly as chaotic or fast paced. The environment is based of of NYC and isn't nearly as fun or dynamic to traverse as the other Crazy Taxi games. Because it's NYC and as a flat as a board, the game is built around having to jump like an Italian plumber to even get a good time if you can find the spots to do that, that is. The controls for the car are very lacking from what I've found. Can't drift the car (at least from what I found, correct me if I'm wrong here). Boosting the car is only valuable when you pick someone up since you can only boost when at a stop (again, correct me if I'm wrong...). And a key to get high combos is to just do small bunny-hops down the street. Nothing really challenging... The dialogue between the cabbies and customers seems too relaxed for what you are doing in the game, and very limited so it gets old fast. In all, this game doesn't compare to even the original Crazy Taxi. The only thing this game does that I was Crazy Taxi did is the Free Roam. But like I said earlier, the environment isn't as fun to explore.
No sir, I don't like it. You would think it would be easy to do a good Crazy Taxi clone twenty years after the game was first released, but clearly this is not the case. Taxi Chaos has terrible controls (keyboard of controller), a limited at best camera and voice acting that gives me a headache. The conversation is recorded multiple times verbatim but by different actors. It makes 90s sports game commentary look verbose and stimnulating. In theory, this should be fun, especially the free roam mode where you have fetch quests and storylines, but trying to find most of these "collectibles" is pretty hard as they don't generate unless you are directly on top of them. The limitations of the camera hurt and hinder this aspect of the game as well, making it more frustration than anything resembling fun. The controls though? Yuck. Not only does the game sometime ignore that you are pressing to brake, but drifting is non-existent and invisible walls seem to come and go at the whims of the game. I'll be trying to do a stunt or jump and suddenly there will be an invisible wall there that wasn't the other six times I tried it. Scoring is nonsensical too. I borked up a ride and got there with a second to spare? FOUR STARS. Then another time I took all the super short cuts and had almost a full time left with a run. two stars - despite all the jumps and shortcut bonuses. I wish i could understand the scoring logic, but after 4+ hours it just seems to be beyond me. if you like Crazy Taxi, just stick to that. I just did not have fun with this at all, and believe I tried to find something about the game that I could be positive about.
They managed to make this more frenetic than CRAZY TAXI! not only you'll have to fight time, but you'll have to fight your own PC to play this piece of crap because there's NO GRAPHIC OPTION. my pc is kinda old. running this crap at 45 fps. the lack of options show how much a cash grab the developer intended this to be. have some love for your products and your work.
Short Review: You think it will be Crazy Taxi but better and with jumping. However it is not. Ive barely even played and im pretty sure NPCs have like 3 lines each. That gets annoying FAST. With more voice lines, and a minimap, i could see myself really liking this game. Unfortunately that's not the case
Taxi Chaos isn't actively bad, but it's also distinctly not good. The art design is respectable, but there's none of that Crazy Taxi flare and the gameplay loop is just tepid. The jumping and weaving you see in the screenshots is not typical. Mostly you've traveling straight lines between light traffic. Normally I'd shrug at a lackluster tribute to one of gaming's classics, there's plenty of that on Steam, but having the audacity to charge $24.99 for an underwhelming time waster when you can buy the original Crazy Taxi for $7.99 is absurd. I'd love to see a proper successor. This isn't it.
Played it for 30 mins but this is nothing compared to the Crazy Taxi from the old days. I cannot hear "I'm on way to retirement" anymore either :D Graphics are nothing special, sound effects are repetitive and some strange bugs when passengers glitch in your car. I sadly cannot not recommend this game.
Awful, laggy game with unbelievably slow load times. You're better off playing the actual Crazy Taxi than this low-grade wannabe.
