About
Build and decorate your tavern, hire staff, stock your larder, meet the locals, be the boss and run the show! Whether you keep a cosy neighbourhood taphouse or a lean, mean gold-minting machine, the choices - and consequences - are yours.

Dozens of intertwined game systems create unpredictable emergent situations. Dirt, heat, noise, flammability, sickness and of course, a parade of colourful customers all keep the unexpected coming.

Today’s situation: Half of your staff are in bed with sleep-sickness. Orders are piling up and patrons’ tempers are getting heated. So is the tavern - because it’s on fire! A spark from a broken lantern landed on just the wrong patch of dirt with no one around to notice. Oops, perhaps it’s time to call the fire brigade...
An expansive narrative campaign lets you build taverns across a vibrant world full of your favourite fantasy cultures. Each new location brings fresh challenges and surprising stories. Meet immortal elementals, outwit halfling philosophers and aid a crazed orc inventor.

Experience a magical storybook fully-narrated by Steven Pacey. Encounter hundreds of bite-sized stories with a surprise at every turn. There’s always someone needing the guidance of a Tavern Keeper like you. What choices will you make?
Decorate every nook and hollow of your tavern to create everything from bustling taprooms to relaxing reading corners. Place and manipulate thousands of items anywhere with complete creative freedom and make the tavern of your dreams.

Go beyond decorating and become a master artisan by using Tavern Keeper’s powerful Design Mode to craft unique furnishings. Combine pieces, add magical effects, then share your creations with the Tavern Keeper community.

Play the single-player campaign your way with adjustable game mechanics and storyteller settings or play in Freeplay for a custom challenge. Pick Challenging and strategize over every decision, barely making it through each day, or play a Relaxed game running the tavern of your dreams without pressure. The choice is yours.
Made by Greenheart Games 💚 (Game Dev Tycoon), a tiny independent team, Tavern Keeper is a passion project more than a decade in the making.
I want more! not really worth 30$ at the moment but im excited for the updates to come

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,419 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Tavern going crazy when Orc goes "Wawawawawaaaaaaaaaah Wawawa wa waaaaaaa "
TLDR: One of the most rewarding shop-keeper games I've played. And for an early access title, It is far better than most other Early Access titles. It is a reflection of both the Developer's professionalism and their love for their own game. Even in early access, it has very good music, voice acting, and playable content. It has a lot of good humor and charm. There are very few bugs. And the ones I encountered were cosmetic and didn't break gameplay at all. There are several customizable options to taylor your gameplay experience. Want to be like me and play w/o your lanterns/stoves potentially starting fires because you don't find that fun? You can adjust the setting for that. And that is one of a dozen or so customizable settings. There is a nice roadmap that shows intent from the devs to finish the game with clear expectations for the players. Already, I have 35 hours in the game, and I plan to at least double it soon. The size of the tavern is fixed. But you have control of the size, placement, and shape of each room inside. It is a well-designed interface and feels quite satisfying to do pretty much anything in the game. I also love the challenge of designing the most efficient yet beautiful and practical design I can. And I feel like I'm given a lot of freedom of creativity and options to do this. Right now, most of the gameplay is from free-play where you can choose from 8 or so available maps after finishing the available campaign. You can design your own furniture/paintings/etc. Or if you are lazy like me, you can just use the many unlockable furniture options the Greenheart devs created that you can get from patron gifts through gameplay. Or you can get design share codes from the new tavernkeeper.com/workshop website. Hopefully they will continue designing more for us lazy and uncreative gamers with not as much time on our hands. Only half the campaign is finished (3 out of 6 chapters). Your first time, it might last you 15+ hours. However, the levels get progressively longer as you build larger and higher rated taverns. I can easily see the completed campaign being over 40 hours.
What I liked: I played through the first three acts, which is all that exists right now, and I had a great time. Tavern Keeper feels fresh, charming, and genuinely fun. The soundtrack and story stand out, with a fantasy-esque tone and a strong streak of irreverent, lighthearted humor. What impressed me most is that the game never takes itself too seriously, but it still feels polished and thoughtfully made. What I disliked: Performance was rougher than I expected for this kind of game, and it pushed my PC pretty hard. Also, while the third act was still enjoyable, it did not feel quite as engaging as the second act, which was easily the highlight for me. Great Work! I'm excited to play through the full version when it's released.
