Tango: The Adventure Game

Very short game. Get it on sale. It is a nice little point and click game. This game would've greatly benefited from some voice acting or some more rich sound, but it's a small indie developer and they only have so much budget so I get it. I enjoyed this short and charming adventure.

Se nota que hay un amor por las aventuras graficas por parte de este equipo. Muchas referencias a juegos de Lucas Arts. Lindo ver Buenos Aires (o algo de) en un videojuego. Vamos por más Gualicho!

Un juego básico, entretenido y fácil de platinar.

Tango: The Adventure Game is a good point and click, adventure game, alright now what is the story. It's the early 20th century a man named Carlos has just escaped from prison, as him and his getaway driver are driving away he is asked about the legendary Tango lyrics and so Carlos explains his backstory about his gambling debts, his fiance leaving him and being no longer the number one in Tango, he talks about how he planned to change all that and it all started in the city of Buenos Aires. So what are the likes, the story is pretty good, I love the moody atmosphere and the themes of love, loss and regret, I also like the references to classic point and click games and if you play a lot of the classics you'll definitely recognize some of them. The gameplay is good, it’s your standard point and click game pick up items and combine some of them in order to solve puzzles and progress forward, nothing too complicated. I also like that in the game’s loading screen it teaches you about Tango and a few interesting facts. The puzzles were okay some of them were annoying like the genie puzzle and some just require a bit of trial and error and maybe a little brute force. The graphics are good I like how it has a hand drawn/cartoon aesthetic to it; it's kind of cute and reminds me of something you could find on newgrounds. The levels are good, the city of Buenos Aires it feels kind of authentic with its like mixture of old style with the emergence of newer technology for that time period, makes you just want to stop and look at it all. The characters were good you'll definitely recognize at least a few of them as they're based off of real people like Humphrey Bogart, I also like the main character Carlos, he seems like a good, but complicated guy who's made a lot of mistakes, things he's regretted, but still he's trying to do the right thing. The music is good for a game about Tango, the soundtrack fits the whole game very well and makes you just want to stop and listen to some of these tracks. So what are the dislikes, I do wish there was a way to adjust the dialogue speed, what I mean by that is in most normal point and click games when there's dialogue you can take your time reading it. But here the dialogue goes on its own, it's not terribly fast but I still would have liked the way to adjust the speed and make it so that the dialogue only moves after clicking instead of just moving on its own. Also just to let you know this game does end on a bit of a cliffhanger as we don't get to find out how our main character wound up in prison and who our mysterious getaway driver is and why they are helping us, sadly I don't think we'll ever get an answer to that as there is no sequel and no upcoming sequel. Alright with that finished Tango: The Adventure Game is a good point and click, adventure game, with a pretty good story, good gameplay and good music, I definitely recommend getting this game particularly because it's not that expensive I mean it's only around six dollars and it's not very long it's something you can play casually.

This short adventure has nice visuals, classic gameplay (and a few mini-games,) in a good interface (it's an inferior yet decent Drag n' Release control scheme, instead of the more comfortable real Point n' Click one, otherwise all useful features are there.) Of note is its light educational value, a slice of El Rey's biography, mostly of his con artist persona in period Buenos Aires. The story and the music make for a charming title. Very much what I expected.
