This game should be delisted again
This is one of my favorite versions of Talisman. I've played 4e digital (with all of the DLCs), 4e physical (with all of the expansions), WH40K: Relic, and Harry Potter, and although I prefer Relic, this is the closest thing to that in a digital format (in terms of the theme). This game differs from all of those others in that it is fundamentally a 2-faction wargame version of Talisman. It's loyalists versus traitors. If one member of your faction wins, everyone in your faction wins. Whereas the other Talisman versions I played feel like you are running around as an individual getting stronger, this game is about running around as a legion making your legion stronger: you recruit infantry units, cavalry units, titans, ships, and vehicles into your legion. Each warlord is part of a subfaction (like Ultramarines) and you can usually only recruit units from your subfaction (so Guilliman can only recruit Ultramarine units and not other loyalist units) and faction-aligned titans. When you encounter units from the opposing faction, you fight them. A key difference between this game and all the other Talisman variants I played is that you get XP for *all* kills--not trophies, and XP rolls over. So you need 7 XP to level a stat, but if you say get 8 XP from a kill, that extra 1 XP rolls over. You also get XP from winning encounters that are triggered by spaces and not only from cards you draw--which is something that doesn't happen in all the other Talisman variants I played. This means you level *much* faster. Something that isn't immediately obvious is that there is a "strategy" stat that determines how many "strategems" or "incantations" (they are both basically spells from Talisman 4e) you can have, and it levels for every fight you win. Strategy is also added to a die roll to see if you can recruit units into your legion. Compared to the other Talisman versions I played, the board seemed shockingly sparse and barebones, but once I got over that, it doesn't matter, The initial impression I got from the UI and appearance was that this was a primitive game, but the mechanics are deeper than they first appear to be and the game is actually quite rich in its depth compared to regular 4e. I definitely recommend getting all of the DLCs (get the bundle) so you get the 3 expansion boards that attach to the main board, and all of their cool cards (called "dataslates"), as well as all of the warlords (and many of the DLC and expansion warlords have cool abilities).
It's an old gem. Could it have better QoL features? Absolutely. A little more polish? Definitely. But what is here is wonderful.
WHAT IS HAPPENING!???1
