System Shock

Sets the benchmark in cyberpunk labyrinthine door unlocking simulation...

Yeah, the hype is real on this one. The original System Shock came out when I was too young to appreciate it, but I remember it being discussed and dissected at length in gaming magazines. It was held on a pedestal: an exemplary example of how creative and immersive video games can be. A high-concept masterpiece. A bridge between video games and real literature. Proof that little virtual role playing games can be capital-A Art too. All of those things are still true about System Shock 2013. You should play it now if you're reading this, but there's no rush. It's still going to be an excellent game twenty years from now. Real art is timeless, baby!

absolute masterpiece of a remake. Really cool graphics, good optimisation, etc. Good game for those who cant digest the orignal who's really old

A beautifully done remake, faithful to the original in every way. What I love more than anything about this game is how there is no handholding whatsoever and you're basically forced to lock in and focus your whole attention on what's going on around you. This game takes "immersive sim" to its most literal extent.

Classic scifi horror FPS remade with better graphics, sounds, everything. Atmosphere even more creepy than the original. Probably worth re-playing the NightDive remake even if you're old enough to have played the original. I'm enjoying it.

I am System Shock veteran, played old verison, SS2 as well. I think this is good remaster, however I can understand that some people might strugle with some concepts. In era when every objective is highligthed via nav points it takes effort to figure out what to do. On the other hand, I like it this way. For me invenotry management was biggest challenge. Also some dermal patches are useless sadly. One big negative is cyber space. I liked old concept more. Adding a little bit logical challenge woudl be welcomed. FInal cyber space was lukewarm, I missed challenge of Shodan slowly taking over hacker, time pressure woud add more spice. But in overall good game, played it twice.
