Synthwave Driver

It's a beautiful game. Visually, it’s far superior to Retrowave 1 and 2. The driving mechanics are better and feel more weighty too. So I recommend this game over those two. One thing that I need to point out is that if you are the kind of person that enjoys customizing your steam profile, this game is perfect for that, since you can take some amazing screenshots that look like works of art. But it definitely needs more cars and also lower the price of some of them. Some good cars that they should add are japanese ones from 90s, like the toyota supra mk 4, the Nissan skyline, Mazda, those would be perfect.

Possible asset flip, as it shares many assets and ui with Retrowave (from RewindApp, also a known asset flipper). Game itself is okay, but like someone else said, 100% achievements don't count to your profile, and it is stuck in early access with no updates. Also controller support is pretty bad and non-native

The concept is good (although an obvious copycat of Retrowave), the maps are cool, the gameplay is fun, the progression can be milked for a while... So why am I not recommending this? Simple: This game... Runs like absolute garbage! You can see my specs, my PC is most definitely above average. Well, guess what? Even running the game at the LOWEST settings and setting its render resolution to 1080p (I have a 4K monitor), it runs like absolute trash! Not only do I get far fewer FPS than even on AAA, very demanding titles, the game keeps stuttering and freezing, to a point where it's completely unplayable. Sometimes it will run better, but most of the time, it doesn't. Hell, it lags and stutters even on the main menu screen. So yeah, cool concept, but even if it were free (which it isn't), I just couldn't recommend a game that simply doesn't run correctly. Especially when it's such a small, basic game with little to render. EDIT: Stuttering seems mostly gone now, frame rate is still abysmally low though. Hope it improves in the future.

Can't break the car in this game. Trying S, arrow down, and space bar, which is the handbrake. Nothing works. The car just mantains the same speed or even speed up, which doesn't make any sense. Surprisingly, everything works on the steering wheel except the brakes. It's a shame, because the game looks good, but if you can't brake in a racing game, you can't play it.

Meine Review zu "Synthwave Driver": "Synthwave Driver" ist ein kleiner feiner Arcade-Titel, einer wie es in dieser Form so einige gibt und ich auch schon einige davon gespielt habe. Man fährt in verschiedenen fahrbaren Untersätzen auf diversen 80s-Retro/Future/Synth-vibe-Strecken den virtuellen Horizont entgegen, weicht dabei den Straßenverkehr aus, bekommt dabei Punkte und Geld um sich dafür neue Autos zu kaufen. Einfaches Prinzip das die Motivation aufrecht erhält und dabei hört man Synthesizer-Musik/Melodien...doch gerade die könnten durchaus etwas Anspruchsvoller sein, bzw. mehr Qualität vertragen, da habe ich schon bessere Melodien dieses Genres gehört...naja, man kann auch den Spielinternen Sound ausstellen und im Hintergrund eigenen Musik abspielen um dieses Manko auszugleichen. Technisch lief das Game soweit sauber und bietet auch ein paar nette grafische Einstellungsmöglichkeiten und Grafikfilter. Und die grafische Darstellung an sich ist ebenfalls sehr stimmig und bietet ganz hübsche Lichteffekte. Für den schmalen Kurs von 2,99€ kann man den Titel durchaus mal mitnehmen. Wer auf Synthie-Racer steht, der kann ich zugreifen, daher eine Empfehlung meinerseits.

This game keeps getting better and better. The controls are good the visuals are great and there is actual weather as well. Quite a bit of detail for an endless driver. Once we get Nitro and perhaps a turbo we'll be set. And just for me a 1963 ford falcon to drive. lol. :)
