I love driving in a straight line, so much fun! I don't understand why does this game exist, it's more or less the same thing as its predecessor, you would need a magnifying glass to spot the differences. At least the achievements are reasonable but that's prone to a change since the game is still in early access.
Pure neon nostalgia with huge retro energy.

Here's a scene: It's the mid-1970s in regional Australia and 'The Show' is in town for the year. The pinball tent is always popular but more so now as there is a new type of game... it's electronic. A racing game: green car and tracks on a black background driving upwards whilst dodging / passing other cars and beating checkpoints. And with a steering wheel as a control. I was given $2 to spend at the show and it all went on this game. I loved it, I watched others play it and I couldn't believe what I was seeing. This was my birth as a gamer. Retrowave 2 is the same game, just 50 years later with a new coat of paint. It doesn't play any differently, with the exception being only a timed mode at the arcade as you had to lose so you'd put another 20 cents into the machine. It's not an original game, it's probably not even that good and I doubt that I would play again. However, this was a delightful flashback as for couple of hours, I was back in the arcade tent at the showgrounds during the 1970s being amazed at gaming.
I was excited for Retrowave 2, but unfortunately it disappointed me almost immediately. It barely feels like an actual game. The driving feels very floaty and imprecise, making it hard to enjoy even simple cruising. Traffic behavior also feels strange and unnatural. On top of that, the music was a huge letdown for me. I expected a much better retro/synthwave atmosphere, but the soundtrack just didn’t match what I had hoped for at all. Sadly, even relaxing and cruising around – which should be one of the game's strongest points – doesn’t feel enjoyable. I really can’t recommend this game.
It's July 2026. The last update was the Christmas update on Nov 29th 2025. The store page still says: Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access? “We hope to release the game in final version at the end of 2025.” Another early access game by this same developer (RewindApp) is Retrowave World. Valve placed a warning on its store page: "The last update made by the developers was over 20 months ago." RewindApp has 75 games on Steam, all of it shovelware, maybe with the sole exception of the original Retrowave but even that's up for debate. RewindApp already has 4 new games on Steam that say "coming soon" and a 5th that is scheduled for 2026. Three of them are driving games too.

Managed to complete the entire thing in just over half an hour. But I think I'll still stay a while to listen to that oh so fantastic OST! :D[/quote]
