The command chains of different triggers and actions were easy to conceptualize and fun to build. As the levels progressed, getting GLORIOUS ratings became more challenging but new abilities were added to the arsenal. The music was bopping and the visuals were both thematic and crisp. I had minor trouble effectively controlling and using the sword's rotation, but it came in key in a few levels. I recommend Sword Slingers to players looking for a fun physics puzzle game with unique trigger and action controls.
One of the best solution type games I've played in recent memory. All the new abilities introduced were refreshing, viable, and added unique twists to the gameplay. Gameplay is fluid and the graphics fit the style of the game. I highly recommend!
I like how you can essentially make up your own solutions for levels. There is no one solution.
Really fun fiddling around to try and find the best way to murderize things.
This game is super fun and rather challenging. In the game you control a sword, assuming magical, and have to kill goblins. As you progress you are able to unlock more and more options for how to attack them. It is super fun and enjoyable and would highly recommend it to anyone who loves puzzle games. Sword Slinger is an inventive puzzle game that takes a simple fantasy concept and transforms it into a surprisingly deep experience centered on experimentation and problem-solving. Developed and published by Firebelley, the game places players in control of a magical sword rather than a traditional hero. The objective is straightforward: defeat goblins scattered throughout a variety of stages. However, the methods used to achieve that goal are what make the game stand out. Instead of relying on combat skills or reflexes, players must manipulate the sword through a flexible system of magical commands and interactions. At the heart of the experience is a creative mechanic that allows players to combine triggers and actions to influence how the sword behaves. These magical building blocks function almost like a simplified programming language, letting players design chains of events that send the sword flying, changing direction, or reacting to environmental conditions. This system creates an engaging balance between logic puzzles and physics-based experimentation. Every level becomes a playground where players can test ideas, observe results, and refine their approach until a successful solution emerges. One of the game's strongest features is its commitment to player freedom. Many puzzle games guide players toward a single intended answer, but Sword Slinger embraces multiple solutions. A challenge can often be completed in several different ways depending on how the player chooses to arrange their magical actions. This open-ended design keeps the gameplay fresh and encourages creativity. The satisfaction of discovering an original solution feels rewarding because success comes from understanding the mechanics rather than simply uncovering a hidden trick. The level progression is carefully structured to introduce new concepts at a comfortable pace. Early stages teach the fundamentals while later puzzles demand increasingly sophisticated combinations of mechanics. As players gain access to more tools and encounter more complex environments, the game continuously asks them to rethink how they approach each challenge. This steady increase in difficulty provides a strong sense of growth and prevents the experience from becoming repetitive. Another element that adds depth is the rating system attached to completed stages. Finishing a puzzle is only part of the challenge, as the game also encourages efficiency and creativity. Players can revisit earlier levels to optimize their solutions or experiment with entirely new approaches in pursuit of better results. This feature significantly enhances replay value and gives puzzle enthusiasts additional reasons to continue refining their strategies long after an initial completion. The physics-driven nature of the gameplay contributes greatly to the overall enjoyment. Watching a carefully planned sequence unfold successfully is immensely satisfying. Small adjustments in timing, placement, or momentum can dramatically alter outcomes, creating moments where experimentation leads to unexpected but effective solutions. Even failed attempts often feel valuable because they reveal new possibilities and inspire different ideas for tackling the puzzle. Visually, Sword Slinger adopts a clean and functional presentation that serves the gameplay well. The environments, enemies, and magical effects are easy to read, ensuring that players can focus on understanding puzzle mechanics without unnecessary distractions. While the graphics are relatively modest compared to larger productions, they complement the game's design philosophy by prioritizing clarity and accessibility. The game is likely to appeal most strongly to players who enjoy puzzle-solving, creative experimentation, and systems-driven gameplay. Those seeking fast-paced action may find its deliberate pace less exciting, but anyone who enjoys discovering clever solutions and mastering interconnected mechanics will find plenty to appreciate. The emphasis on freedom and creativity gives the game a unique identity within the puzzle genre. Overall, Sword Slinger succeeds in delivering a distinctive and engaging puzzle experience built around a highly flexible mechanic. Its combination of physics, logic, and player-driven problem-solving creates a rewarding gameplay loop that consistently encourages experimentation. While its niche focus may not appeal to every audience, fans of inventive puzzle design will find a thoughtful and entertaining adventure that rewards imagination as much as skill. Rating: 6/10
Like puzzles? Hate goblins? THIS IS THE GAME FOR YOU. In the time I've played I've managed to 100% complete the game including all glorious completions AND I STILL WANT MORE. The toolbox of nodes made available throughout the game allows for creative solutions that feel incredibly satisfying to pull off. Nothing feels better than throwing a spinning sword up in the air to sniper a dragon out of the air.
This game was a lot of fun. It is a bit on the short side as I completed well over half the content already. The pacing was decent as well. The main thing I disliked is the lack of terrain and enemy variety. That being said, I do recommend people try out this Firebelley classic as it does have a lot of potential should he revisit the project one day.
Good and challenging game. My only wish is that it had a way to reorganize/delete entire command sections.
