Two words: Circle Camping. You are given far too much vertical mobility, allowing you to run circles around the map without interacting with your opponent. The random items that spawn in crates do not favor aggressive players. There’s really just no reason to be aggressive. You are even rewarded for playing defensively; its much easier to build meter perfect blocking shots from irritated players chasing you down, than trying to run someone down to land shotgun > melee combos. Item pick ups are a better offensive tool, and you get those by running around the stage. Combo’s seem inconsistent. You are given invincibility after a combo ends/is dropped, as a way of not getting obliterated. However, the invincibility seems to be extended if you are hit by something during it. So its very easy to drag on your invincibility from a single hit, and too easy to drop a combo, resulting in an instant reversal of momentum. Further re-enforcing that its much better to play a defensive run away game. Pick Maurice, lose your friends. Longest range in the game, only character to have a one shot super. The other characters supers dont come anywhere close to the literal game ending power of Maurice’s sniper. Some of them are situation-ally useful depending on the stage(ie, Caesars flame thrower on the train; easy to run people onto the tracks), and Good Twins super is a cut above the rest, givng you 15 seconds of invincibility(thats 1/4th of a round using default time settings). These issues are compounded by the fact that players are not allowed to pick the same character. The in-game sprites aren’t bad tbh. Its the menu portraits that look ugly to me. Wish the art style from the store banner was used instead, considering its just three portrait sprites per character. The music is good, stages are visually clear. Level design can’t be fixed without fixing player mobility first. A few gameplay tweaks, and this would be a good couch MP title for the value. Otherwise, there are similar games in this genre without these balance issues.
Graphics and sounds like in the good ol' days of the super nes + fast paced, fighting game style explosive action = countless hours of ass-kicking with your friends ! I played last night with my friends and it was like in 1993's Super Bomberman : sometimes winning, sometimes loosing, sometimes cheating (everyone against the red !), always swearing and hoping to win the next round... Or the next. Or the next. >> Addictive
Super Rocket Shootout is a boring platform-shooter made worse by terrible controls and clumsy level design. This game does not use the mouse. Yes, that's right, no aiming. Every character has the same weapon and same shield, the only real difference is their special skill. In comparison, Awesomenauts has a ton of different characters with different abilities that can be built in different ways during the game + mouse aiming + it's free instead of €10. EDIT: I forgot to mention the controls. The menus don't respond to normal controls (Enter, Escape), they use the in-game controls... which it doesn't show. It just says "press A", meaning the A on controllers. You also can't rebind a single key, you have to re-bind every single one to change one key. And if you press Escape to return to the game it resets them. That's a pretty impressive degree of incompetence.
Good fun! There's a range of different characters where their special move is what differentiates them the most to me. Some might be in need of some tweaks in certain game modes.... but for the most part the game feels balanced. AI is good as well. Well worth purchasing for some couch multiplayer as it is, I just hope there will be more content in the future. More stages to play on would be welcome! The game works flawless from my Linux machine, over to the Steam Link with an assortment of controllers, which is where I have been playing most of the time.

Just like old times ! It's been a long time I didn't play with my friends on the same computer, I almost forgot how fun it was :) Old school graphics, and great animations that make this game different. Awesome !
I had an ABSOLUTE BLAST playing this with my friends! We had some really intense 1 on 1 matches that were so much fun. It's one of those games with such a satisfying amount of skill that every time you win you or lose, once you are done shouting in triumph telling your your friend to "Eat It!" or shouting in rage that you lost such a close match, your immediate reaction is to play again. When there's lots of laughing and shouting going on, that's a great co-op game. And there was definitely plenty of that when we played. There is a surprising amount of depth to master in the nuance of the timing and controls of the various combat and movement mechanics. The amount of focus on movement; dancing, dodging, and juking your opponent(s) definitely reminds me of Super Smash Bros. I played through the entire Solo story mode and was actually pretty impressed with the serious, but fair challenge that the AI provided. I found myself mashing the "Rematch" button every time that I lost to my friends or the AI. Definitely worth the price, and more, if you want to have some great, intense fun with your friends or practice your skills against the AI.
