The Dark Souls of Sega, fun game alot of different routes, bosses r kinda gimmicky but it's fun on sale.
Worst monkey ball game ever, even the wii version had charm. The camera is worse?? in this version?? They replaced all the good music with trash, and they decided to make levels harder, not in an authentic, natural way, in a way that's dumb and stupid. Just because this doesn't have motion controls. At least they kept sinking swamp and ultra heaven. Not to mention they forced us to buy this game so we could get mania which STILL didn't hold up to the original games.
not my monkey ball. no manual camera, terrible controls that would mark the beginning of the end of sega caring about control in monkey ball games. replaced music. avoid.

It's ok. If you heard about how horrible Banana Blitz is (like I did) and how the HD remake is a little better, just get it on sale so you can experience it for yourself. The biggest problem is how boring the courses are as a monkey in a ball. If you told me this was Bubsy 4D or some 3D Super Mario title then you could get away with it, but here, there is little point to the ball. Also, if you want to complete all the courses, just use YanYan for everything because they are designed around jumping and YanYan is the best jumper. Most of the minigames are just ok too except for Dangerous Route which is in fact fire and would be a blast with friends. The music overall is also just ok except for where they pulled it from SMB1/2 and that's a lot better. If you look very closely you can see how BBHD was intentionally very ok because it was meant to test the waters prior to Banana Mania. In conclusion, don't except anything more than an ok experience, but it's worth the $6 if you've exhausted all the other SMB games. Just realized this, but the font they use for everything is the kind they use in fancy Italian restaurants. BE WARNED!
Great fun puzzle game
So before I start this review, I want to say a big screw you to the QA department of this game. Those hit boxes are absolutely abysmal on the bosses looking at you world 7 and especially world 8. God that was truly miserable. Oh almost forgot the story, you are a monkey and you collect bananas while in a ball... you move by tilting the stage, the game flows really smoothly and then on world 6 the difficulty curve goes way up. It has been the same sense dream cast and I don’t know if that is better or worse; except with this anniversary special there is a jump button. It is worth the pick up if it is on sale, it is a mid game doing mid things, but the graphics and upbeat tone of the game is nice, until you get slapped around by inconsistent hit boxes. If you watch the trailer and go, hmm this game looks kind of fun, then get it on sale. The thing that separates this game from super meat boy is instant restart, not pan around the level then then restart… if you are going to kill me that much don’t make me watch the 5 second animation load and replay the same sound byte. My experience with the game really wasn't bad, I am just writing this review after that miserable last boss so it left me a bit annoyed, 30 damn minutes to kill a boss where it's weak point is it's ass.
