Full disclosure I did help test the game, but if you're looking for a challenging "only-up" style game with actual good platforming mechanics, this game absolutely checks all the right boxes. Mario 64 style jumping mechanics with a bit of Celeste thrown in for good measure. Overall a very fun game with a healthy dose of frustration that makes the satisfaction of success all the better. Level design is varied and has a nice mix of open areas and more linear platforming challenges. The difficulty settings are a good touch that allow the game to be much more accessible for those who don't vibe with the frustration/rage inducing only-up style games because you can personalize the amount of progress you lose.
I helped test this game so I may be biased...but if you like Mario 64 and precision platformers then this is definitely a game you should check out

Tight controls, clean graphics, the music is a vibe, difficulty accommodates everyone from the very skilled at platformers to those still carrying the generational trauma of Mario 64 in their bones (me). Great game. Easily worth the $5.
It's Mario 64 meets Getting Over It, and the movement is crisp when you learn the systems. For $5 it's a steal
Yo, whoever wrote those signs COOKED. The game is great too!
I am happy for the optional checkpoint system. I'm surprised I have had as much fun as I am having playing Super Antonio. Gives me nostalgia to replay Youropa even though Super Antonio has way more platforming. Super Antonio has good controls and is responsive. The platforming mechanics are simple to understand from the tutorial area. The game does become more difficult as you progress although some places can really check your skills and timing early on. There is a music track for each area, and they are uplifting. Super Antonio can definitely be challenging for platforming newcomers and experienced players, but it will be a fun challenge. I am glad I came across Super Antonio.
We don't talk about what happened in the house atop the snow level. Also game good.
Perhaps this is not my game genre, but I'm not seeing the 'crisp movement' that's talked about. The video footage certainly LOOKS very slick and flashy, but I can't actually imagine myself ever ATTEMPTING it during a game. The climb is long, very long, so playing on anything but easy difficulty with custom checkpoint placement will have you playing as cautious as possible. Compared to something like the trackmania tower, your movement options and character speed are actually pretty limited. A lot of your time is going to be spent doing very precise double jumps to climb up small islands. That gets very tedious and doesn't _really_ leave a lot of room for on-the-fly improvisation. It's just about cancelling your momentum well enough. Pretty much every funny fall you see in the trailers will set you back 10-20 minutes of platforming, and that's if you play cautious. Are you really risking further falls? Maybe if you have several days to spend on nothing but this game. Speaking of physics, I really DON'T like the fact that double jumping cancels your momentum. Your character feels very heavy and carries a lot of momentum, so you have two choices: skip through the jumps at top speed and try to keep your launch angling PERFECT (because it's very difficult to drift once airborne), or do every jump as slow as possible and reset momentum with double jump and then try and steer yourself towards a good landing site (again very slowly because it takes a good amount of time to build horizontal momentum). As for using your shadow to land, the inconsistent sun angle at higher elevations makes doing this on very small landing sites a liability a lot of the time. Keeping momentum when you wall jump is a double edged sword, as it allow you to glide across long horizontal sections to extend your jump, but when trying to jump up a tower, you need to constantly keep adjusting your camera and launch angle to stay in one spot. The game really just feels like it's constantly shifting speed and pace on you. There's a few layouts that are fun to jump through, but it's interspersed with a lot of very unfun sections at the same time. And again, unless you're an expert here, the game is going to have you stop and place a checkpoint every time you attempt something cool, or you'll be spending 10 minutes putting yourself back in that spot to ATTEMPT to "be cool again". I got to world 6 before I decided to jump down to the bottom and see how far I would fall. I landed next to a treasure chest, accidentally hit 'set checkpoint' instead of 'open' and lost around 3 hours of vertical progress. Oops! Well, that's on me. I decided to resolve to get myself back up, and because I'd collected the coins of 5 worlds prior it took me around 45 minutes to ascend again. Yay me. Then I started progressing again, ran into a spike ball, and got a fatal unity exception. Hard to fault one dev for that, but the problem was it reset me to world 3 with none of my coins for that day collected. I realized I just did not want to play the game any more, and that's not great. Is there really no way to select myself between worlds? Because requiring you to ascend again kills the joy of exploring and experimentation, and single-tracking yourself to the top, as I've said, is filled with a lot of tedious and not-fun jumps. Like I said, maybe it's just not the genre.
The movement feels incredible, the layout is creative and not overly linear. Extremely addicting challenge
the natural conclusion to a love triangle between mario 64, celeste, and getting over it
