Our story's hero and his friend Jowy are members of the Unicorn Youth Brigade, which participated in a drawn-out border dispute between the Highland Kingdom and the City-States of Jowston .
A few months earlier, a truce agreement was signed between the two forces, both of which were happy to see an end to the fighting.
However, hidden under the momentary peace the fires of a new war continued to smolder…

The sexy: Rina and Jeane my beloved 💖 The Good: no frills turn based combat, great plot that reminds me of the 19th century revolutions against monarchies, lovely music, Chinese-inspired aesthetic, emotional scenes that make me feel for the protagonists. The bad: minor, but I wish the NPCs and some Stars of Destiny had more dialogue. Note: The first game is shorter than the first, and the stakes aren't as high. But still play them in order to get certain references. Overall, a masterpiece.
this is an oldschool classic. i remember renting Suikoden II from the movie/game rental place and i always got in trouble 'cos i'd rent it out and keep it late.. and a few other guys in my school got on my case for that. i played the first Suikoden after i completed II several times.. and now i get the remastered for both. the nostalgia is there and it's a fresh view. i love that they left little things in that i won't spoil but got an absolute kick out of.

Honestly one of the best RPGs I've ever experienced. I'm only roughly 6 hours in the first game but it's just such a breath of fresh air from other RPGs. 108 recruitable characters, a memorable although predictable story, and the Rune Orbs are just really great. I really enjoy how you can set up teams of 6 with a wide variety of weapons, unique effects. The monster designs are fun, idk just a really fun game.
幻想水滸伝２のるかを追い詰めるところまでプレイ ３PTにより追い詰めるまでの演出はよかったが 最後になぜか一騎打ちで負けてPT戦からというところで 萎えた。
Game starts in windowed mode instead of full-screen (of course it does since all the bad developers do this). The mouse goes behind the window and is unusable because it is clicking things on my desktop and opening them instead of the game. Controller if plugged in prior to opening the game does nothing either. The ONLY way I could get this game to do anything was to unplug my controller multiple times until the game registered it and would let me select options to run the game in full-screen mode. I literally just noticed that other people have this same issue and it is a KNOWN bug that remains unfixed. That is a pretty big bug to not correct. You know what would solve it? Have the game start in full-screen by DEFAULT. NEGATIVE REVIEW while I ponder returning the game. We shall see.

one of the best stories ever put into a game.
Easily my two favorite JRPGs. The first one has some flaws for sure (inventory management is pretty rough), but all of those issues are fixed in the sequel. The story is excellent in both of them.
I played the originals when I was young, feels good to see the story again. I remembered most things from back then, I am 1/3rd of the way through Suikoden 1, maybe halfway but glad to see that and hope I can get the good ending so I can get into Suikoden 2! The sprites are beautiful, as they always have been, but cleaned up a little and the music still sounds as amazing as I remember! This was a birthday present to me, I'm so thankful!
I grew up in the 90's playing just about every JRPG under the sun for SNES and PS1. I never beat Suikoden and never got my hands on the ultra-rare Suikoden II, despite hearing it was one of the best JRPGs ever made. I can tell you right now you will not regret playing these 30 years later. Suikoden II truly is one of the best RPG plots I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. It will tug at your heartstrings. Some of the gameplay mechanics and backtracking can be a bit frustrating, but it is absolutely worth it to play through the story. Try your best to find a spoiler-free walkthrough.
