Reviews
If you love survival games ,you cant hate this one, especially considering it was made largely by one developer. The atmosphere, survival mechanics, and sense of progression are well thought out and genuinely challenging. You can clearly see the passion and dedication behind the project, with steady updates and a strong core gameplay loop. While there is still room for improvement in areas like polish, performance, and quality-of-life features, the foundation is solid and very enjoyable. A great achievement for a solo dev and definitely worth playing if you enjoy hardcore survival games.
This game is a big SCAM! It's terrible... preset objects, if you want to play with a friend you can't play properly because you can't see each other on the map. It's crap... there's no map either.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Too much work to do basic crafting. If your looking for a punishing survival game this is foy you.
Game has been out for 10 years? Feels like 3 months with how it is configured. Very grindy and if you play on normal prepare for it to be a daily struggle to survive. Coop is rough to find your friend, and you cant even track them on a heads-up display. Why in the heck you need nails for a dam arrow is beyond me, but there def aint enough nails for such a low damage item. Skip this one for sure.
Same jank it had 10 years ago... I like jank, within reason, this is just not fun. The excessive requirement for nails to do anything takes any steam out of this pos.
probably the worst survival game ive ever played. for a game that came out in 2016 and still plays like its 2016 youve really gotta put some effort into making sure the game is clunky and old mechanics never leave. combat is terrible, you can be crafting stuff die and lose all of it, and you literally have to put hours into it for any real progression which usually isnt a bad thing but in this case it really just drags out the already terribly crafted game of run away til day 60 when you can make enough ammo
Ignore the bad reviews, most people have their own idea of what they think the game is or what they want from it before playing. It’s a survival game, the objective is to survive. That means grinding a bit to get resources when starting. Overall this early access game is a 9/10 for me. Basically because it’s early access, it still has a bit of work to go but it’s really good. Not many single player survival games that are this fun anymore. If you’re looking for an open world survival game, where you get to craft and build, there are guns and weapons and lots of progression. You can farm, and take care of animals to get eggs from or meat. Overall there isn’t much missing, also the hunters are really fun to keep it feeling like a pvp (which you can turn off) Either way if you’re debating on playing I highly suggest you get it and keep in mind it is still early access so it will get better.
Game is absolute crap; it's apparently been in development for 10 years, but the only way to get basic crafting ingredients is to constantly search around the world looking for extremely hard to see crates to loot. Even if you manage to find the materials needed to build a base before you die (I only managed it on my 6th game, restarting from scratch each time), if you die at that point you still restart across the map and not at the base. Hope you made a chest and stashed anything you want to actually keep, because if you don't make it back within 20 minutes, all of your stuff is gone. After 118 hours I still haven't managed to craft all of the best / warmest clothing, so imagine losing your corpse and having to recraft all of those items from scratch due to the serious cotton / cotton seed shortage in the world. Again, you can only get wool seeds in crates. If you harvest cotton plants, somehow, there's no seeds. In reality, cotton is so riddled with seeds we invented basic machines called cotton presses to strip the seeds from the cotton and make it actually useful. Instead, in Subsistence somehow cotton seeds are extremely hard to get ahold of, and planting a cotton plant, gives you exactly 1 cotton, and zero cotton seeds. The game is *also* gated behind a crappy energy / "matter" system which drastically limits any kind of crafting you can do, so you need to spend a lot of time idle or going around searching for more mats. Even if you build the items needed to store extra amounts of these energy or matter systems, the base itself stops producing them at a small level and you need to spend a lot of extra time juggling extra machines to generate either more energy or convert energy into matter or find more items to convert into matter just to be able to craft another item. One example -- if you, after 80 or so hours of playing and searching *finally* manage to get the parts together to craft a dive tank and the stuff needed to find their cave system, and happen to die in the cave, if you can't suddenly craft a whole new set of diving gear and tanks again, not to mention finding your corpse within 20 minutes, you lose everything. Again. If you want something fun to do, play something other than Subsistence. Or go get a root canal. It will be far more enjoyable than this awful game. I've played it for hours now trying to make progress and each time I walk away wondering why I keep wasting my time, expecting things will somehow be better this time.
I really wanted to like it. First off Materials are way too grindy. Its better to just make pickaxes to raid other bases then the breaching charge first off. Upgrading weapons you spend resources to have a slightly "better" gun. Don't even waste materials on those. The whole keeping animals in a coop so what i can give them all of my water and food, for a single egg for a chicken. Not worth it. 70% of the items you can craft are a waste of resources and time. 1 Wood = 1 plank, tell me how that works? 11 fiber to make 1 cordage, good luck grinding. Any other game would have an adjustable slider for Materials gathered. I understand having a longevity to a game and a sense of how you want this game to be as another developer, but seriously so easy and better player experience to add a customizable slider for all crafting menu managers to what the player sets it to. 50% less materials, 25% less materials, etc. They bought the game let them have fun with it. Winter is brutal and the whole attacked by a wolf get infected, bloody hands Infected. More grind to do to make my antidote. also simply...Animals have Bullet Resistance???? Its fully seen the Developer of this game cares about the "Grind" and their "idea" of a fun game more than its players and it shows in all these reviews and the gameplay.
