Looking at this as an expansion on the original Subnautica, it's really nice. Better base building features, a modular vehicle, new and scary leviathans, and a good bit of story. There are some places where it doesn't quite live up to it's predecessor, but I think it stands on it's own pretty well regardless. Worth the buy if you want more answers regarding Alterra, the Degasi crew, the Precursors, and the Kharaa. Oh, also the environments are really pretty!

Great game, lots of fun, incredible immersion. Me and my wife love this game!
I came to this game when it was finally on sale, but I wanted it for a very long time, since I loved the first Subnautica. I had already seen so much debate, critique, and praise altogether about Subnautica: Below Zero that, frankly, I was a bit nervous about what I would find. But boy, did it surprise me. It was magnificent. Although not entirely "new" and novelty in all features like the first game, Subnautica: Below Zero managed to still introduce new mechanics, components, and items, while creating a fantastic (and immensely compelling) narrative. In fact, in my opinion, they accomplished something even greater - 2 and a half mysteries for us to explore (and I'm not even counting the world itself! Sam's story and mysterious death and research + Al-An's story and complicated past + the nicest touch of adding Marguerit and actually show us small easter eggs and references of the first game and, most importantly, of her journey to this new world (woman has seen some ♥♥♥♥ xD). It was amazing, and I was so excited I even wished I could keep playing in Al-An's world for a bit and have a new adventure there (even though, truthfully, I'd miss the water and many underwater worlds, which is the BEST thing ever! I can't wait to play Subnautica 2 :) And if I hear anyone ever again complaining about the lack of connection or repetitiveness of Below Zero I'll be sure to tell them they're just not playing the game with best gamer eye there is ;) Congrats on the amazing game!
