The year was 2017. You, a Sci-Fi fan who wanted a “Skyrim but in SPACE.” You and your best friend buys this small game called Osiris: New Dawn. It’s an Early Access game but you are both so excited! When you hop in the game you are greeted with a bold new world. Scary new alien monsters as you fight to survive and build a base on this new planet. All was going well, you get the occasional bug, finish the available content and say “we will come back when more gets added.” Fast forward to 2022 and you scroll through your Steam library and find Osiris, woah, that was a fun but unfinished game. Let’s check it out now. And WOW. Added content, some bug fixes. But still unfinished. You play 5 hours that day, get to see all the content available and again you say “I’ll check it out once it’s finished.” Now the year is 2026… almost a decade since you first played the game with your best friend. You get one of those shower thoughts flashbacks and you see this game. You rush to Steam to see if it’s finished… only to find out the developers abandoned the game and it’s never going to be finished. RIP game, you were not bad, just mistreated by your dev team.

As this game is currently no longer for purchase on steam this review serves nothing but to cement my mark as someone who can say "i have this" the vision was there, it was a cool concept, if only they finished it.
they really did 2 updates in 2 years then called it quits lol!! its wild stuff like this is legal...
This is just abandonware at this rate. Lmfao. I forgor I had it in my library. Great concept, poor execution. The combat was absolute ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Cool environments, and fun times when it was actively worked on. Now? Trash.
Instead of fixing it, and making it into something good, they simply remove it from the Steam Store and abandon it, lol. Speaks volumes for the Devs low intelligence. NEVER pay for any of their future games.
I came I played it died. Would of been amazing finished product.
I guess this is the game that convinced me to never again by a game in early access, it was fun for a weekend lan of discovery back in the days where open world were new
I forgot I had this in my library lol
Congratulations! You got exactly what you wanted, you made a big impact then didn't want to make the game you started with and ended up lost to time. Why did you change direction with the game, why did you change so much... So many questions we will never have answers to, because no one wanted what was being changed to and the game has died from it. Initially this game was fantastic! There were features my friends and I were looking forward to finally being able to build and use in an future update (that never came) and we had tons of fun exploring caves, gathering resources and then later doing missions. Then the game became mission focused, this made it frustrating but it wasn't game breaking. Then the devs split the game between Live and Test, I was curious about these features and things I had seen in update announcements but weren't in Live, so I went over to Test and... the game wasn't playable starting out (at least not at that point, maybe for others who already got past the start) I was stuck in a constant loop of death while the game said "get 3 of this thing" and there were only 1 in the entire crash site it restricted me to, and the annoying spiders kept 1 shotting me on easy. I couldn't progress in Test to see anything of the "new features" because their "new start" system was damn near Souls-like and I was just here to build (I'm the builder of the group) I went back to Live and shared my experience with my friends who agreed that it sounded like a completely different game in Test. I would have played more of this game, I would have strongly recommended it, had it been more fleshed out where it was not where they were taking it. This title has some of the most fun in a game I've ever had, the vehicle combat was perfect, the feel of the physics was perfect, the scenery and monster design was perfect. For them to change it so much and then die out like this, feels like they were copying someone else's work and got caught. (elaboration on that later) The game was fine where it was, all they had to do was refine what they had and it would have been glorious, could have been a one hit wonder even. Where it feels like some things were copied was subtle things that I'm sure I'm the only one who noticed, the physics felt like Halo Warthog physics in some vehicles, and I feel like the assets used were part of a public repository? like you can get a lot of the assets used in UnrealEngine by (almost) every game, some are free, some you must pay for. Though I don't think Epic Cares if you make a game that becomes a hit with old Paragon assets... thats an "example" and here's where I KNOW I seen an asset either from this game or taken by this game, the drone assistant you get, is in SCUM as an observer camera bot. This makes me wonder what else? I seen a friend post an image in my Discord server that I thought was this game, nope, it was No Mans Sky, the base buildings were nearly identical. So, what happened? I certainly hope the devs had some kind of serious life crisis, not to be mean, but to excuse their sudden disappearance. The direction they were taking the game, was the wrong direction and IDK who to blame for that, but there were some features I wish were applied to the LIVE version my friends and I were playing. I genuinely swear to god, if they went cross-eyed and chose to dump all their funds into legal harassment over the assets they were using being used in other games, this is why we can't have nice things. Yes I miss the game. Yes I strongly believe the direction they were going with the game (in TEST) was wrong. This game was a beautiful game that won awards from big names, but all that went to their head and they lost sight of their original picture, and we were left with nothing after they burned everything away in TEST. No, I don't recommend this game, it will break your heart to play such a beautiful LIVE branch only to be struck down but the impending thought that TEST was going to replace it, and then they are no longer on the Steam Store anymore, the ultimate heart break. Their website is very basic, and doesn't say much except they've done like 6 other games as commissions for clients, and that THIS game was a side project... I get the vibes that this is a 2 man dev team. I find it almost offensive that they pulled from Steam, and if you want to continue playing whatever version they've got going in house, you have to buy it all over again, from their Launcher, oh but all their keys are sold out. (How do you sell out of an infinitely generatable resource?)
Was a good concept, had potential, too bad it was never finished. I think that the devs get too much hate in the reviews. We all knew that it was an Early Acces, and that you are paying for the development, not the finished product. I hope the developers kept what they learned about this development and brings it in to their next jobs och projects!
