About
Subnautica 2 is an underwater survival adventure game set on an all-new alien world. It is the next chapter in the Subnautica universe, developed by Unknown Worlds.
Driven from your home by ongoing conflict, Alterra offers you the chance at a new life. But as the colony ship CICADA shepherds you and your fellow Pioneers to your new home, something goes awry. The ship’s AI insists that your mission should continue. Stranded and faced with near-insurmountable odds, you must do everything in your power to survive. The future of humanity on this world is in your hands.
Subnautica 2 is being crafted as a single-player experience that you can optionally play in online co-operative multiplayer with up to three friends. You can choose from four pre-designed characters, with more characters and customization options coming throughout Early Access. Work together to explore long-forgotten ruins and learn to adapt to a planet that might not want you there.
To survive the depths and make this planet your home, you’ll need to utilize all the tools at your disposal. Traverse vibrant and breathtaking biomes with your Tadpole submersible. Design and customize bases to return to when your adventures push you beyond the safety of shallow waters. As Early Access develops, so too will your array of tools, equipment, and vehicles. Upgrades will help push you beyond your boundaries and unlock the secrets of this strange world.
Scan and study a rich world of biodiversity to understand life here. Discover everything from the smallest creatures to towering Leviathans. Experience the wonder, and sometimes danger, lurking around every corner. Every dive is an opportunity to uncover why the ship's AI is so determined to continue the mission and what mysteries lie beneath the surface of this breathtaking new frontier.
Subnautica 2 is an Early Access title in active development. Throughout this journey, we will continuously expand the world with additional biomes, creatures, and craftables, while expanding the narrative. You may encounter bugs, in-development features, and performance issues. Your feedback is the cornerstone of our development process. Join us and help shape the next chapter of the Subnautica universe.
Subnautica 2 is being developed by Unknown Worlds, the studio behind the award-winning Subnautica and Subnautica: Below Zero. Our journey began with the 2003 Half-Life mod Natural Selection, and today we have evolved into a fully remote, globally distributed team spanning from the United States to the United Kingdom, France, Australia, and beyond. Defined by a philosophy of open development and over a decade of community-focused innovation, we invite you to dive back into the depths with a studio dedicated to pushing the boundaries of the survival genre.

I'm going to be a little harsher than I normally would because the original Subnautica set an incredibly high bar. It's one of my favorite survival games ever made, so naturally I came into this sequel with very high expectations. In its current state, I don't think this game is ready for Early Access. It feels more like a polished beta - or even a really solid demo - of what the final game could become. The core gameplay mechanics are very similar to the original, probably around 80% the same, which isn't necessarily a bad thing because the first game's formula worked so well. My biggest question is: where's the content? Right now, there simply isn't enough to do. I completed all of the available content as of August 5th in about a week, and I wasn't rushing through it. Considering how much of the gameplay is borrowed from the first game, I expected a lot more exploration, progression, and story content. The game also still has quite a few bugs. While I understand that Early Access games are works in progress, there are enough technical issues that they frequently break immersion and remind you that the game isn't finished. I have no doubt this game has tremendous potential. The atmosphere, visuals, and foundation are all there, and I believe it will eventually become a worthy successor to the original. However, I think it's going to need another year or two of development before it reaches that point. If you're a huge Subnautica fan and don't mind paying to experience the game as it evolves, you'll probably enjoy seeing its progress. But if you're looking for a complete experience, I'd recommend waiting until the full release. Right now, it simply isn't ready for prime time.

not enough to do
I understand not being at the top of the food chain. I understand that it's not survival, if you can kill everything with a knife. It's also not "survival" if every creature is immune to damage and nothing dies... except you. Hit a critter with your vehicle, nothing. Swing your "survival tool" at a fish, nothing. Watch as a local predator gets tired of eating human, and goes after a local fish, the attacked fish swims away, unharmed. I am no longer living in an alien ecosystem, I am witnessing someone's personal crusade against "humanocentric" violence. If you do not delight being a victim, with no way to defend yourself, besides temporary distractions, this may not be the time to play Sub 2.

lowk mid, not much content yet at all.. im not sure how this is considered a 1.1 update. personally im not fan, also the progression is very fast we probably couldve finished the story as it is so far in under 6 hours.

Its a good game so far but its unfinished and who knows when it will be done or how much they will even add so until its fully released I just cant reccomend buying it. Ill update my review when the game is fully released.
