About

This Director's Cut of Strike Suit Zero delivers overhauled visuals, a restructured campaign, rebalanced gameplay, all DLC and reworked voice acting.
18 missions and over 10 hours of space combat across two epic campaigns.
6 flyable ships, including 3 unique Strike Suits
Fast, frantic space combat: dogfight pilots, battle fleets, and destroy capital ships piece by piece.
13 unique locations, an acclaimed soundtrack, and full controller, joystick, and multi-monitor support.
Multiple endings shaped by your choices.
In the year 2299, an interstellar war rages between the Earth forces of the U.N.E. and the breakaway Colonial forces. The tide of the war has turned, Earth is in danger. You and a band of survivors must fight overwhelming odds and find a way to save your home.
At the center of it all is the mecha Strike Suit itself, a revolutionary craft that gives you a tactical edge unlike anything else in space combat. Choose from three Strike Suits, including the Marauder and Raptor, and switch between Pursuit Mode for raw speed and power, and Strike Mode for precise, highly maneuverable combat. You're always in control of how you engage the enemy.
No target is too big. Capital ships can be dismantled piece by piece, with turrets picked off one by one and critical weak-points targeted to blow out entire sections of their superstructure. These are battles of both skill and strategy, rewarding players who take the time to study their enemy.
Your decisions matter beyond the battlefield. Choices made throughout the game directly influence the state of Earth by the time the credits roll, with multiple endings ensuring that your playthrough feels consequential.
Across 13 unique locations, space is anything but empty. Vivid and colorful environments bring the universe to life, complemented by stunning ship designs from mechanical engineer Junji Okubo and an award-winning soundtrack by composer Paul Ruskay, featuring collaborations with Japanese vocalist Kokia. Full joystick support and multi-monitor compatibility ensure you can experience all of it in the most immersive way possible.
The Director's Cut includes the Heroes of the Fleet campaign — five simulations that explore the events and characters central to the U.N.E./Colonial war. Guided by Control V2.0, a new A.I. built on Isabella Abram's research, you'll be tested, challenged, and pushed to your limits.
How I got it working on Windows 11
If your game goes to white screen and then just exits - try this: [olist] [*] Right click the game name in the library, go to Manage > Browse local files. This will open the game folder (steamapps\common\SSZ Directors Cut\) [*] Go to pc\main\Binary [*] Try running SSZ32.exe - if that works, we're nearly there. [*] Now rename SSZ.exe to SSZ-.exe [*] Rename SSZ32.exe to SSZ.exe [*] You can now start the game from Steam like usual, it will run the 32bit version. [/olist] It also works on steamdeck and you can use it to stream from, but the above worked and I was able to run it in 4k. As for the game itself, it's a fun old style space shooter, with some anime mecha flying sprinkled in. Played 3 missions so far, there are challenges to unlock upgrades which is nice, gives you something to strive for in missions. Shooting mechanic is engaging and not overcomplicated yet with enough depth to be engaging. Xbox 360 wireless controller and PS5 Dualsense via USB worked with the help of steam input, however the button prompts in the tutorial missions were completely backwards. The right buttons work, it's just prompts which are wrong. Before you scour the internet: Boost = LT + R3 (becomes unlocked mid 1st mission), transform into Strike mode - A, Auto-targeting - hold Y and fire. Also fun fact - steam deck seems to correctly map buttons. It's PC which goes haywire. Linking plasma cannons (d-pad up) is not visible in the UI nor acknowledged by any sound, you have to shoot to see which mode are you in. So far, game's nice. I grew up with the likes of Wing Commander so this one is a nice throwback. And it supposedly works with VR - I'll update this review if I manage to get it working.
The audio did not immediately work. I had to search for a work around and then create a file on my computer to override the settings. When I finally fixed the audio and got into playing the game the first NPC started insulting me about my inability to follow her directions... when, in fact, the buttons did not do what the on screen prompts suggested they did. I went into the settings menu and found the control remapping options and found it impossible to remap my controller's sticks. Also, it seems like the D-pad did nothing, and I believe that had something to do with my difficulty getting the game to do anything I expected it to. Aside from a good soundtrack and mediocre visuals, every other aspect of my first impression of this game felt just bad and I don't want to spend the time and effort getting this game into a playable state.
The controls are not intuitive and the narration is drowned out by the music. For me, controlling the fighter/mech was impossible and combat was suicide because of the lag in responding to my inputs.
Honestly for what this is I think it is a gem of a game. I originally got this because it is a mech game and we don't really get many of those. I admit I was worried it was your standard indi developed asset flip project but I was presently surprised. The story is rather interesting and has a bit of a twist revealed at the end that I wasn't expecting. The Hero's of the Fleet DLC is a nice little add on but I am a little disappointed in it. Not because it's bad but because it turned into what I thought would have been the solid base for a second full campaign story. All in all I give it an 8/10. A good little pick up for a mech or scifi fan
A game from a bundle that's been in my backlog for years. I'm glad I finally got to it, though. It's more of a spaceship piloting game than a mech game, but with that in mind it's pretty good. There's a relatively short campaign, during which you'll mostly use the titular strike suit ship. I enjoyed trying out the different ships in stage replays (to get upgrades) or the DLC missions. The bomber and the different suits are especially good. I don't know how it compares to the likes of Ace Combat or other such things for hardcore flying fans, but I personally quite liked how I didn't spend the whole game just dodging missiles and nothing else. The controls took some getting used to, but make sense once you've used them for a mission or two. The big battles were also pretty neat, if slightly repetitive in terms of objectives. This would make a solid multiplayer experience, though. The story wasn't too memorable or fleshed out, but it served its purpose. It's inoffensive, though I raised an eyebrow at a certain plot development near the end (nothing you haven't seen before if you've played some sci-fi, but still).
10/10 IGN too much space
Muy buen juego, en el clásico se me traba un poco como lags, en este no pasa funciona mejor lo recomiendo
frequent crashes make it impossible to finish the game, i am stuck on mission 5 with no way to progress
