About
After a series of unfortunate events, you find yourself surrounded by an ice-covered wilderness. Isolated from the rest of the world, you must rely on your own wits and limited resources to survive these harsh conditions in this Sandbox Survival in VR.
Your main goal is to stay alive, but how?
Build your Base: Build a shelter to escape the frost and replenish vital strengths. Enjoy the freedom and construct it however you like. Warm up, protect from wild animals, wait out a snowstorm, store resources, and craft needed equipment there.
Tools & Weapons: To survive and fully exploit your surroundings, you will need a variety of tools. Every tool and item has its purpose and durability, which determines how long it can be used until it breaks.
Hunt, Craft & Gather: Hunt wild animals to gain food and resources. Collect items to craft tools, weapons, or clothing necessary for survival.

Surviving isn't easy. Strategizing your moves is crucial to staying alive. Complete essential tasks during daylight and be aware of the darkness, as nighttime brings lower temperatures. Weather conditions are unpredictable and change dynamically, so always be prepared! Explore a huge map, but remember that not every place is safe; some may be inaccessible based on your current gear.

Survival isn’t just about staying alive, it’s also about staying sane. How do you keep your humanity in this frozen hell?
In Frost Survival VR, you must take care of not only your physiological needs, such as hunger, thirst, and keeping yourself warm, but also your mental health. If you neglect it, reality may start to blur with illusion. Fake sounds and creatures will make survival even more challenging. But beware - some figments of your imagination can harm you!

Try to survive alone or cooperate with others in a multiplayer experience.
Do you like playing alone? Don’t worry, there are some uncovered secrets scattered across the frozen wilderness that will help you endure. Or you can work together with other players: gather resources, insulate your shelter, and defend against threats like cold, hunger, and dangerous animals. Shape your survival sandbox experience your way!

Alrighty! This game is surprisingly good! Let's hop straight into the review. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- NEGATIVES: - The sanity monsters (I named them Jeremy :) and they've scared the ♥♥♥♥ out of me countless times. Not entirely a negative but there were times I forgot I wasn't playing a horror game. Not a true negative) - Backpack collision. Sometimes the collision with putting tools in the tool slot can be inconsistent, but this is a bug. It'll more than likely get fixed. - A TINY lack in atmosphere. (At times, it feels a little empty. Yeah I get it, it's a frozen wasteland no ♥♥♥♥, but I mean even THAT, it still feels really empty. Maybe just some more plant/nature variety would do PERFECTLY!) - The door. (♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dude, the door pisses me off. It's collision is very wonky, and I can't exactly tell if it actually SNAPS shut or not. Please make it toggleable (Where you'd grab the door handle and press trigger to open it, and the same to close it with a little animation) instead of a straight physics object.) - Lack in Graphics settings (I'd like to see a little more customizability, and perhaps support for better shading + graphics for higher end PC builds.) --------------------------------------------------------------------- POSITIVES: - Weather cycle (Very intuitive, I love the different weathers, and am excited for the possibility of more in the future? :D) - Crafting + Building System (Very efficient, simple, easy to follow along. It takes a moment to get ahold of the ropes at first, but once you do, you're good to go.) - Story (I like where it's going. A lot of VR survival games SUCK with this stuff, and are usually very low quality, but I like this one.) - Map (I am a little sad it's not procedurally generated, but for a survival VR game, it's quite expansive, and is really really decent. I just wish it was filled with a little more variety in terms of nature, animals, and foliage, but it's significantly impressive.) - The gameplay (Despite a little frustrating at times, it's actually really fun and addictive. I love being able to pick up water with my hands to drink it, and physically skinning animals for meat/fur, and finding smaller trees for sticks, it's all very unique and immersive. I actually really like it.) ---------------------------------------------------------------- There's a lot more I like, but I wanna stop yapping and conclude it. I really like this game, and would hope to see it continue to be updated. A solid 7.5/10 very impressive for a VR survival title.
Game has a persistent microstutter whenever moving around which is obvious when looking at UI elements or the environment when moving sideways, but is magnified depending on your refresh rate. So if you're at 120hz this stutter is rapid, and it slows down all the way to 72hz which the game was clearly designed for with the Quest version in mind where its far less noticeable, but is still present. No patches to address it, causes a headache while playing, very few updates since the game came out.
10/10 VR game if you love survival and base building. It’s like a winter only sons of the forest, but your brain is the cannibal constantly attacking you. You’ll build some beautiful cabins, hunt big game, fish and cook and explore for hours, have a lot of fun (and some jump scares), genuinely struggle, go insane, and then quickly master the game. I absolutely loved it, but it feels like the devs are done with it which is disappointing. It has such a solid foundation that I was hoping they’d add more content or regions to keep it fresh and make it more replayable. After 50hrs I’ve done pretty much everything I can think to do, so let’s hope they expand it in the future, even if it’s a paid DLC. I mostly play this on quest as the graphics difference is minor, but I’ll update this if it changes in the future. It’s very well priced for the amount of content, and 100% worth the buy. Side note in case the devs see this, please add a mirror, so I can truly appreciate my fits. I worked hard for this drip.
Terrible frame rates. Game engine is not optimized well at all. Wave your hand in front of your face or strafe left to right and you see the stutter immediately. Very bad. Apparently a result of it being a Quest 72hz port and being locked at that refresh rate, so anything else (e.g. 80/90/120/144hz) will look terrible. Also the player height setting is completely broken and doesn't work properly - you'll have fully bent legs the whole time. No update from the devs for half a year. Known problems, never fixed, just ignored. Fugeddaboutit.
as someone who played the demo before the game launched this game sucks, i mean i did enjoy the demo but the full game is just the demo with a tiny bit of story and maybe like a couple of building additions and items, the game still feels really empty and janky, maybe in like a year it might be a good game.
Fun game if you like base building and survival type games. Game suffers some odd bugs like disappearing items and floating trees. Overall, I enjoyed the game and would love to play a sequel. However, the game could have used a little more time in the oven, because it is not quite done.
so far i've had a wonderful time building a house making tools and progressing trough the map. i cant recommend this game enough if you have vr as its one of the best vr survival games
Could use some QOL fixes and has some minor bugs like floating rocks and trees, but overall a splendid coop survival game. I would only play if you have someone else to play with, since material gathering is very slow, especially when building even a tiny house. Expect some jank like in The Forest, otherwise I'd highly recommend paying the $15 even if you only play for a couple of hours.
A amazing (in my opinion) survival game and I have a lot of fun in it and I got it on sale but $21.95 isnt that much and it is worth it :)
