The AI opponent is useless even on hardest difficulty it is completely passive and always does time wasting moves back and forth and never attacks, allowing you to rampage with no challenge whatsoever.

I was excited to see a modern single player computer version of this game, as it is a favorite of mine for decades. Sadly I had to refund this after a very short time as it kept crashing on the "bombs" level of the campaign (3 games in?) I have a fairly new 64 bit grunty PC, so no idea why it crashes all the time, I did fiddle with compatibility options in windows but could not get it to run past that level. While playing the first two levels of the campaign (I like the idea of a campaign and different shaped maps) I did notice the AI was absolutely terrible, and is no challenge even on difficult level. For example on the bombs level, you can just walk your miner strait to the flag and no unit of the AI will challenge you… Also annoying in 2020 is not being able to use your screen resolution in windowed mode, it was limited to a small window, or whole screen, lo res (which stops me using my other monitor) With a rewrite of the AI to at least provide a small level of challenge, bug fixes and more screen resolution choices this could be worth a revisit.
Excellent representation of classic board game. Onlty wish you would bring back two player mode.
It's fine. Flawed but harmlessly so. Used to include a multiplayer variant but that has been discontinued. AI is weak, though the scenarios are interesting. Grab it when it's on sale -- it's decent enough for learning the game or trying different setups with no pressure.
Overall its a good game but WAY WAY WAY too easy. The computer AI just isn't very smart and often does little more than shift pieces around aimlessly.
great computer version... love it...
I mean, it's Stratego ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Good looking game, but the AI is non-existent, just keeps moving the same pieces back and forth and never attacks
