Tl;dr: This is truly an under-appreciated game. Play with a friend, and you'll have fun. If you're a fan of the Final Fantasy series and soulslikes, this is 100% the game for you. It has a wide range of difficulty, which I appreciate as a casual gamer. It's also up to 3 players co-op, and it's truly a blast to build up strategies. And the classes; oh boy are they fun as hell. Want to sling spells? Bust monsters' heads in with an axe? Ninjutsu their asses? This game has so much immersion! Coming from someone who loved Dark Souls 3 and Lies of P, this game is truly my favorite soulslike, and I think it nails almost every single detail out of the part; some of them beating even the pros at FromSoft. I will admit there are a few annoyances, but EVERY game has these. So many negative reviews are hammering on about them, yet I fully suspect those reviews turn a blind eye when the same annoyances apply to other games (i.e. "bad lobby system).

the only good final fantasy game

For the most part, I've been enjoying stranger of paradise. The combat feels great, the soundtrack is amazing, it's a very good action RPG. Aside from some problems with the looting system. (Everything drops 50 identical versions of weapons and armor I already have, making progression feel very unrewarding. I had the same issue with Nioh where enemies just drop too much stuff.) I have no problems with the game itself. However, the audio in this game has a constant crackling and popping similar to what happens when you lower your audio latency too much in a DAW. I've never had issues with any other game except Nioh which is by the same developers. I've tried changing my audio quality, my speaker configuration, my focusrite latency, turning on/off certain settings in the Nvidia app but nothing fixes the crackling. I've seen forum posts about this issue ever since the game came out and they never addressed the issue.
