About

Dear Applicant,
I am pleased to offer you the role of Apprentice Thaumaturge at Strange Antiquities.
You show promise – a sharp mind and a strong stomach – exactly what this work demands. I need you to run the shop while I attend to other pressing matters. You will need a keen eye for detail as you provide the townsfolk of Undermere with occult objects for their arcane needs.
Undermere might seem unassuming at first – a serene little town on the edge of a grand lake. But it also sits at the edge of our world and the world beyond – and it falls on us to preserve reality’s frayed edge.
Permit me now to outline your duties – you’ll need to be up to speed from day one.

Every day, you will welcome new customers into the cosy, candle-lit interior of the shop. Their needs are unpredictable and often alarming, but never dull!
Study and Identify: Examine, identify and catalogue strange artefacts. Observation, deduction, and careful reference to our collection of illustrated tomes will serve you well. Mistakes can be… costly.
Help… Or Hinder: When dealing with powerful items, your choices matter. Will you help someone with their problem, or curse them with a horrid affliction? In a small town like this, people remember your misdeeds.
Explore and Discover: From time to time, you will have to leave the safety of the shop. Whether investigating rumours or retrieving artefacts, my well-loved hand-drawn maps will guide you to where you need to go.
Solve and Uncover: Your day-to-day might already feel like a puzzle, but this store holds many more. Few know how old this building is, and fewer still know what secrets lie within its walls.
Tending the Familiar: And, of course, Jupiter, the shop’s cat, demands daily affection. In return for his company, please oblige him with the occasional scratch behind the ears.

These ravens are an omen. There is a sickness in this town and I intend to investigate it.
Barton Potter told me that his bad eye has been aching again. That can’t be a good sign. And a creeping dark has set up in Jack Hungerford’s house. I have business in Ravenglass but I will consult with the occult scholar, Verona Green, before I leave.
There are always forces at play that would see our beloved Undermere unmade. We stand between them and the threshold. If events take a turn, you may be called upon to take a stand.

This shop is my life’s work. And, for the most part, it has been good to me. May it now offer you equal parts reward and mystery! But remember: some curiosities are best left untouched, and some visitors are not what they seem.
I look forward to your arrival.
Yours,
Eli White

We are two brothers from the UK who have been making games together for over a decade. In 2022, we released our occult puzzle game Strange Horticulture, and the response has been incredible; from amazing reviews and award nominations to appearing in numerous best-of-the-year lists. Most importantly, it has been a joy to read the kind words left by so many of our players on Steam, where we are still rated Overwhelmingly Positive after close to 12,000 reviews!
Strange Antiquities is not a sequel, not a direct one, at least. You’ll see some familiar faces, and maybe some plants will pop up, but it’s a brand new story. If you have a fondness for Strange Horticulture and the dark, but welcoming world we’ve created, know that you’ll feel right at home.
We want to thank everyone who has played Strange Horticulture, left us a review, told their friends, or supported the game in any way. It has been an amazing journey and we can't wait to share the next chapter with you.
Many thanks,
Rob & John

Same puzzley gameplay as Strange Horticulture, but I did not like it as much. Some identifications were super annoying where all you know is that the item has a certain field, so you waste 10 minutes dragging a bunch of items across screens to the field lens because you have no other attribute to sort with. Still enjoyable though.
Quick little puzzle game with a great atmosphere that blends logic puzzles, escape room-like puzzles, and veeeeery light shopkeeping simulation elements. Never overstays its welcome, and the presentation is phenomenal. Has a cat.

Every market we collect.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Great deduction game with good puzzles. Way better than Horticulture in every way.
I adore this game! I find the game mechanics on this to be superior to those on strange horticulture, but that game is great too! Love the spooky vibes and the art style. The puzzles are challenging and engaging while not being so hard you want to give up.
Nice atmosphere and puzzles. Overall a great experience.
A very enjoyable game both to play casually and to 100% , definitely worth the price and the investment.
if you loved strange horticulture then you'd be making the best decision trying this one out. it's got the same mystique and allure but with upgraded puzzles and mechanics! this game never stops making the gears in your brain turn (in a very very good way)
First off, I've played Strange Horticulture and liked it. Then I jumped into the sequel and... soon had mixed feelings. It's not bad, but for me it's a typical example of overshooting in complexity and not quite pulling it off. The UX is somehow worse? It's probably an edge case but on a laptop with a touchscreen (splus touchpad) it was less responsive and more difficult to control than Horti, for example drag-and-drop of items using the screen was unreliable, had to use the touchpad, while it worked beautifully in the earlier game. The added layers of complexity with the reference books means that I have to cross-reference them a lot, yet I can have only one item in focus, no way to leave two books open on the table, for example. Extremely clicky, for no good reason. Oh, talking about clicky, the end of day clue design is atrocious. Horti had a nice atmospheric deck, you clicked, you got a card, move one with your life. Now you click on a continue button after the story blurb (not just anywhere on the screen), then you get an outline that you have to trace with your cursor. Why??? Let's not even talk about accessibility, it's an utter waste of time to 'make me work' for my clue. I started hated it around day 3, didn't get better. The pointless and punishingly random timeout game is another thing, but I guess just don't fail at the puzzles. Still, they're a step back from the actual puzzles of Horti, and I'm just stuck there rolling dice and hoping for good RNG. Please. The puzzle design... It's a bit too complex. It's not hard, it's not that you can't solve them, it's that by the middle portion of the game it often gets tedious. Partly it's the clickiness of the reference books, partly it's the occasional odd, one-off mechanics. Oh, this thing changes the color of flames! Never used again. This one does something when put in a drawer. Never used again. At least the scales are used in at least 3-4 different identifications, they're actually a meaningful tool. I admit I was quite frustrated by the control as well, but I also got a feeling that you're often not given enough clues to clearly decide which of 2 or 3 items is the exact match (or maybe I just couldn't be bothered to cross-reference the gemstones with their hermetic significance, factor in the different symbols as placed on the objects, add the planetary metals if relevant, then check the auras). I mean, I could've opened a notebook and written myself a little study guide? So for me it's firmly in the 'difficult for difficulty's sake' territory. Not fun. I generally missed the 'aha' moments of any decent puzzle game where you figure out a mechanic and you're happy because it will open new levels of complexity for solving the next puzzles. Here I just felt I'm being thrown more stuff, somewhat randomly. And last but not least, a very personal aspect, aesthetics. I didn't like the art direction, it felt more flat and lifeless than Horti, which had a low-key charm to me. Here the lines (especially the characters) are too clean and crisp, but flat and two-dimensional at the same time. For whatever reason I also felt way less related to the story, it felt more like it happened around me than something that I was an active part of. That could be way the characters were presented, or the visual art style, not just the story per se, I don't quite know. Mind you, both games have pretty classic occult mystery plots, and I figured out the unnamed character's identity in the daily narration at around a third of the game for both, so it's definitely not because one was new and exciting and surprising, and other wasn't. Overall I'm feeling quite frustrated, because after having a fun time with Horti I had high hopes for this to be even better, and half the time it still felt like a chore. I wanted to finish it to give it a fair shot, but I still don't recommend it.
