This is... this is Rimworld. I don't mean "this reminds me of Rimworld" or "this is a similar sort of experience to Rimworld", it's the same game with nicer graphics and some features left off. It feels weird to give a thumbs down to a game I've put over 100 hours into, but my honest review is "Go play Rimworld instead." If you love that game, you sadly won't find anything new here. If you've never played it, you're better off experiencing the original. I guess if Rimworld's low-fi graphics were bugging you, or maybe you thought its gameplay was a bit too detailed, this game is probably for you. For my money, I find myself missing a number of Rimworld's features and in-depth management, and my NES-era brain stopped being impressed by shiny graphics upgrades a long time ago.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

In some ways, this is very good, in others, I have no words for how dumb this is. The amount of micromanagement needed is off the charts. Also, they will ignore it anyway. Most of the time you characters are running around near naked - in winter - because: a) There is no mechanism to repair clothes or weapons. NONE. b) You can learn to 3D print CPUs before you can even make a gun, so most of the time you are stuck with bows and arrows, and pointy sticks and you can't make a pair of boots because: 3) The ability to even make clothes relies on cotton plants and if the generated zone doesn't have them, that's that. 4) If you do get the resources, HUZZAH! Then the character dies because depression, or starvation because although you have 4 ovens and four people that can cook, they won't because, who knows. You turn everything but cooking (or whatever) off and they just stand around idling. The thing that works well is encounters. Except... You, stand there, near naked, with a bow and arrow and fight off the entire bug cast of Starship Troopers. You, back her up. You've got this! *thumbs up* *Pair get attacked by exploding bugs, face melters and giants stabby bugs* Drunken, brained damaged battle-hardened leader: "Did I miss anything? Oh. Oh dear. Aaarghhhhh..." I'm usually quite good at this type of game, but when the cast are this dumb, it's a challenge and I'm not sure if I like wasting time like this.
Abandoned game that is another victim of Paradox.
Also obacht bevor du direkt ins hardcore gehst. Also einfach immer mal wieder etwas rumprobieren. Zb "bauen" skillt man logischerweise indem man baut.
The game is finished and completely playable, with released and reliable bug fixing/feature tweaking mods available at the workshop. My experience has been a smooth one and enjoyed all maps and scenarios available on my game version. Mid to late game you can see how the game turns into a tower defense, so the criticism is understandable. Once you get the hang of what does what, you'll be using the fast timer often - which might turn late game into a chore. You can be like me at the start of the experience and build very practical settlements while conservative on materials. You'll eventually need a reliable fence to fend off agressive wildlife, so you'll have to plan expansion pretty early. But once you get the hang of it, you can get as creative as the videos show, and turn the game into a housing and interiors design simulator, all inside your tower defense perimeter. On Desertum planet I ended up extending my stay for almost 5 years because I had fun finding new survivors and building my settlement. An early find of Mech technology allowed for my best shooter to handle it and deal with any threat, but eventually needed to finish the main goal. I had all tech unlocked and my wharehousing would need to be much larger than anything on that planet. The colonists were either married or coupled up. The summers where getting much harsher however... Go and make your own story.
It's just a diet coke 3D RimWorld. Even base game RimWorld with no mods or DLCs does everything this game does and more. While it's pretty and has Z-Level/verticality support, it does nothing better than other games in it's genre. Plus, on top of all of this, Paradox acquired the studio and then proceeded to do nothing with the game. It's sat with no updates for two years at this point. Don't bother, RimWorld comparisons aside I'm sure there's another colony sim worth your time.
No updates since Ap 25, guessing this game is dead then since Paradox bought it.
While i liked this game, i cant in good faith recommend it knowing what will happen now Paradox own it.
