Another great game by Haemimont, in my humble opinion. My previous experience with them as developers has been the Tropico series, and their game Surviving Mars, both of which have been quite enjoyable for me. I myself have yet to play Rimworld, but it appears that this game is quite similar to that. After getting through the game and understanding its mechanics, I believe it seems slightly simple for me. However, the modding community has me covered on this one, what with Beyond Stranded and similar mods on the workshop. On the topic of the future of this game: Surviving Mars, much like this game, was acquired by Paradox at some point, after which Paradox put a different company to develop DLC for that game. Seemingly, Haemimont are currently focusing on the Relaunched version of Surviving Mars. It's therefore possible Paradox is going to do the same to this game, putting a different dev team in charge of developing DLCs for this game. If that happens, I'd most likely advise you exercise caution purchasing future DLCs. What is here right now however is great in my opinion. It may not have the depth or DLCs like that of Surviving Mars' Green Planet DLC, but it is quite fun and something I will continue playing for a while longer.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I used to like this game, but ever since Paradox bought it, it's been crashing after a few minutes of play time.
Stranded Alien Dawn
I got this via the monthly Humble Bundle some time ago. When I went to redeem it, HB was out of keys and couldn't get any new ones for months. Paradox finally coughed up some keys and I'm glad they did so I could get a chance to actually play this game. Stranded: Alien Dawn is an under-the-radar little gem, very similar to Rimworld. You crashed on an alien planet and need to gather resources, farm, build a base, study the local fauna and flora, research technologies to build better stuff and ultimately get off the planet. This has a prettier 3D graphical style than Rimworld but has pacing issues throughout the game and is a more simple experience. Overall it's enjoyable but not excellent or memorable. Let's start off with the good stuff. Graphically, Stranded is quite pretty. I think it's one of those games that looks better in screenshots but it still looks quite good. So if you want to play a very pretty Rimworld-style game, this is your ticket to ride. Make no mistake, the graphics are good. The alien world looks both alien and familiar - a difficult task to pull off. Seasons change, snow blankets the ground, rain falls and the trees change colors in the fall. There are times it's just nice to sit back and watch it all go by. The UI isn't great but it's pretty good, with a lot of similarities to Surviving Mars' interface (which makes sense since Haemimont Games made both titles). It comes with a very solid tutorial system that was both informative but not too painful to play through. I appreciate a good tutorial and UI and I didn't really struggle to play this game. I think there could have been some better overlays for more information - like temperature or a hot key to discover what you haven't "observed" yet but overall it's decent. Screens like the research tree are nice and there's some depth there. There are a lot of options in how you set up this game to customize your experience. I played at a more relaxed setting, with minimal wildlife incursions and learning more into the building aspect. On the more extreme difficulties, this game might start to resemble a "They Are Billions" type experience instead. As an older gamer, I appreciate the options as I like to play my base builders in a more casual fashion. However, this isn't Rimworld and it doesn't come close because it's lacking depth and some balance: - Even at 3x the game speed is very slow. Walking, doing, observing and especially when crafting. Crafting armor and weapons is a bit frustrating because by the time you finish producing enough for everyone, the first batch is either degraded and needing replacement and/or obsolete. And why you can't repair equipment baffles me. - Characters have strengths and weaknesses but are preset and don't have the various quirks that makes Rimworld so much fun. There's no random or personal character creation. Sad. - Some systems and obvious game play areas, like the world travel, are just entirely under-baked. Another example of something missing is the lack of beautification of your settlement, which is a real shame given the pretty graphical style. Yet another is the complete lack of water-based resources. You need food and heat but not clean water? There's not even a basic fishing mechanic in this game. As a result, the game doesn't feel complete. - I didn't hit any real bugs beyond Steam achievements just stopped working. I got through about 3/4ths of the first year and then they just stopped triggering, even though I wasn't running any mods. Oh well. I think the core was here for a truly good game but the developer changed hands and it appears it was just sort of quietly wrapped up. I can see myself returning to this, playing it almost like a Banished-in-Space,-cozy-style-game. I might try to build a pretty village at some point. But I don't see myself coming back to this repeatedly or spending long hours with it because Rimworld is simply a far better and more complete game than this one.
I initially bought it because it was essentially a 3D Rimworld clone. I thought copying so much of the core gameplay was a smart move at the beginning, you are instantly familiar with the UI which lowers the entry barrier. This obviously raises the question of their own creative output being a copycat in many aspects and therein lies the ironic fate of the copycat.. The developers never had a long-term vision to establish their own identity or add meaningful innovations that would justify choosing this over the original. Every time I played, I found myself asking "why am I not just playing Rimworld instead?"
Absolutely Fantastic Game Stranded: Alien Dawn is honestly one of my favorite games I've ever played. The gameplay is fantastic, with a great balance of challenge and progression that keeps things interesting without ever becoming overly frustrating. I'm coming up on 300 hours of gameplay, and I still have absolutely no interest in stopping. There is always something to work towards, something to improve, or another situation that makes you rethink how you're approaching your colony. I genuinely think this is one of my top 10 games of all time, and that's not something I say lightly. If you enjoy survival, colony management, strategy, building and watching your little group slowly turn a hostile planet into a home, this game is absolutely worth picking up. One of the best games I've played in years. Highly recommended!
among the best of its kind. i personally gave it a score of 90%. public reviews are not very high (only 73%-83%), i think because people are having too high expectations. however i agree it could be improved. well, all games have rooms for improvements.
Daher bisher mein Kolonie Favorit!
