Stone Simulator – Just Be a Rock

These reviews have to be fake, This isn't even a game. You literally just stare at a rock and the small environment around it. That's it. You don't move, there are no actions, there is no point. For hours and days to pass in-game you don't even encounter any animals aside from the few flat birds in the sky when it's sunny. No bears, wolves, cats, deer, frogs, salamanders, lions, or at least even fish in the damn pond your are forced stare at, nothing. The pond doesn't even fill up or lower down with all the rain. The bank doesn't erode, there is any natural weathering, the rock doesn't slowly slide towards the pond since it is on a slope- nothing. There are events that happen but they are so rare it's not even worth staring at the screen and waiting for something ANYTHING to happen. I think there might be one event every 30 minutes or so. The graphics are nice and the music is chill, but that's literally it. You could watch a live lo-fi on youtube for the same effect that this "game" gives. And yes, i am aware of the name and the idea. You are a rock in a stone simulator. I should not have expected very much. I mean my expectations were low, but.. damn. At least it was cheap.. i guess..

Its an interesting idea.. 9 hours? what am i doing.. the events were fun. I was hoping for a more visual passage of time through the millennia as a rock, With landscapes evolving and changing. So in that sense I was disappointed. Here I am expecting too much out of things, Classic me.

I picked up this game before there was the AI disclosure, and before the devs went generative AI trigger happy. The disclosure on the store page is not accurate and omits the fact that they have been replacing what seemed to be in-game screenshots with generated trash for the store page and achievement images. I haven't opened the game since the cover was changed and have no plans to play it again.

Was really excited to finally be a rock, until I realised AI is used for more than what is stated in the content disclosure. Have since refunded it.
