Stellar Tactics is a nostalgic return to the excitement and wonder of classic RPGs with a compelling narrative, strategic squad-based ground combat, and rewarding open-world space exploration. Survival will require the most skilled team and the best weapons, armor, and equipment you can get your hands on. With 10,000 sectors, tens of thousands of solar systems, and millions of planets to discover, you can explore, fight, and trade to your heart’s content as you build a party of seasoned veterans to dominate the challenges of deep space.
You are a genetically engineered mercenary who is woken from cryostasis after your escape pod is rescued. It has been years since a disaster struck the colony ship you were stationed on. Much has changed in the galaxy. A disease known as Phage is mutating and slowly consuming worlds while the galactic powers fight for supremacy and control. You must assemble a crew and choose your path while navigating the intricate politics and dangerous foes you will meet in your travels.
Can you find the source and end the Phage before it consumes the entire galaxy? Will you choose one of the political powers with which to ally yourself or stay strictly a mercenary for hire? The choice is yours.
Stellar Tactics combines the turn-based combat of classic RPGs such as Fallout with space exploration in a massive open-world universe. On the ground, explore space stations, ancient ruins, caves, planetary bases and interact with a variety of characters - each with their own goals and objectives.
Engage in turn-based tactical combat against mutants, monsters, and hostile forces such as raiders, pirates, and scavengers, with every weapon having its advantages and disadvantages. Harness the formidable power of Psionics, and an ancient alien force - Azimuth. Build your squad from novice mercenaries into experts as you choose what skills they will specialize and excel in with a classless system where character skills improve as you use them.
Explore a vast universe of over 160,000 star systems where you can embark on missions; hunt pirates and raiders for bounties; scan planets for data, hidden locations, and valuable minerals; disable and board enemy ships; and mine asteroids for precious ores to make additional money and craft powerful gear.

I've been on a non-medieval fantasy turn-based tactics kick this past few weeks and, after playing stuff like the Shadowrun trilogy, Broken Roads and Wasteland 2, I felt like I wanted to play something that was still Sci-Fi but more in the realm of space exploring and not so much cyberpunk or post-apocalypse survival. This one hit the spot perfectly. I've only played the prologue so far, but I enjoyed the combat and character progression, and it oddly felt like it mixed some gameplay elements from all the games I'd recently played. The story so far was very reminiscent in tone to Aliens in that you have cryo-sleep to allow for space exploration and corporations doing questionable crap with biotech. I'm intrigued to see what the main story holds in store and how it integrates the other mechanics I've yet to experience, like space exploring, ship cusomization, weapon upgrades, etc.
It's a single dev game. VERY ambitious. Space is definitely empty, and there's lots that could be done with it. Curious if it'll eventually go stardew valley route with mods cause man there's so much major potential. It's definitely worth the money. Spread the love
A little over 4 hours in and haven't seen any type of ship combat. The pacing is just awful, I doubt that I will get to the ship combat part and now I'm pretty sure it will be bland and boring as well.
I really wanted to like this game, it just doesn't work for me. The the biggest problems are it just seems completely random, combat is bland and the writing is not very strong. Star systems have difficulty ratings as do individual dungeons. Finding a star system that is not too difficult at the start is nearly impossible since you have to fly in a random direction in FTL and hope that eventually leads you to an easier region of space, but only if you're lucky. Dungeons even in easier systems can be too difficult at random. Loot is completely random and rarity of items may have nothing to do with actual usefulness other than mod slots in weapons and armor. A low level common item could easily have significantly better effect than a legendary one or a higher level one. Combat is always kind of the same no matter what you fight. The same enemy might be easier or harder without any visual distinction in different places. You might fight a horrible looking mutant at level 2 and wipe the floor with it, the game doesn't really seem to save anything for later to provide a sense of progression. Often fights can be won quickly by letting enemies bottleneck, hitting them with a stun grenade, then working them down one at a time or frag grenade spamming. It just feels like it exists to delay you. I may be doing ship combat wrong, but it just feels impossible if a ship is a slightly higher level than you. Missions and characters don't seem to have much thought put into them. An older scientist you meet early on that joins you for a bit is a specialist in two handed weapons and wields a sledgehammer. Why? Who knows. A secret cult contacts you to come to their secret base and retrieve an ally who they caught snooping around. There's kind of a reason for that, but it still seems silly nonetheless. That ally is also initially a bad guy who just becomes a good guy after a time skip that happens within the first few hours of the game. You play a character that has a secret important property that comes up abruptly without said property ever being mentioned before. All that being said, the game has a good concept behind it and you should definitely try it and come to your own conclusion. I just found myself pushed away for the above reasons.
Stellar Tactics is played in space, on ground, on planets on space stations. 1. You assemble a team of 4 Characters and solve adventures - recommended following the storyline. 2. It is round based combat - in the beginning quite hard. At this moment my characters are at Level 11 and I know there are areas and dungeons I should evade. 3. The Game allows you to find weapons, to repair weapons, to craft weapons, to improve weapons. Same with armor, boots, gloves and helmets. You constantly use the better to improve the good. 4. you can be a Fighter, an Adventurer and a Merchant. 5, I love the concept., how spacetravel is made. After "elite" it is the new standard. (The space fight is hard to handle .. I have confidence, that I will adapt. ) Bonus: And then there is the moment when you hear: there is a guy, one guy, spending a decade to programm it. I am deeply in respect for Don Wilkins. Thank you for enriching my live :-) best Jochen
¡Corred, insensatos!
