Quite a fun tactical game! The customization of ship+pilot+weapons allows for some hours of fun eventhough i'd have loved a few more weapons available at Merchants to try even more combinations. It's easy to grasp the mechanics and the UI/GUI is spot on as well. EDIT: Would have liked some filter or tab for equipment and ships as well.
Good game that will keep you busy for several hours. It's perfect between two big games you want to play as the mechanics of Steam Tactics are simple and straighforward. It's not for expert gamer though as you won't have to change ship and gear to beat a specific map. Still for the price I recommend it as the game is fun, visually pleasing and a solid effort by the dev team.

The first day I played this I got to the last battle in Chapter 1 of 2. I could not beat this battle after many attempts and was very frustrated with the game. Part of the issue was mobility. Ships at that level can not mount 3 weapons and be able to manuever into position. It was at this point that I had to start maxxing out upgrdes before trying the next tier. Once you get to the level 11 fights and evey 5 levels after that expect to grind a lot of battles as you will need to upgrade ships and weapons. You may lose a lot to get that few wins needed for upgrades that make things much easier for getting more materials in that tier. I would recmmend the game for someone looking for something that isn't too mentally taxing and can be played in short sessions, if desired. I would say that most battles last 5 minutes or less. It took me 12.5 hours to finish the game with about 60% of the battles at 3 stars, 80% at 2 stars and the rest at 1 star.
Just picked this up for literally 2 dollars and have already put in 2 interested hours and I know I'll get another dozen or so out of it. Storyline is frankly not even needed (I am already skipping them) and the game would play better as a random generated grinding board game with multiplayer and customizable ships/captains as the combat is surprisingly complex and the RPG elements are enough. The game goes on HEAVY sales often so wait for one of those and pick this up. No excuses at that point. The game could easily morph into a board game like "Age of Booty" for Steam Tactics 2 which would become an instant classic IMO...
It's tactical turn based airship battle with furries. What more could you want?
It kinda feels more like chess than a proper srpg, what with positioning being as important as it is because of extremely restrictive weapon ranges. The art's really nice. The translation, while perfectly understandable, could use a bit of proofreading from a native english speaker. Nothing major, but you can definitely tell that english isn't this guy's first language. Also the writing's a bit, um, amateurish. It's functional but it won't be winning any awards anytime soon. It's not amazing, but it's decent enough for what it is. I will say that I really like the art. The art's fantastic. Easily the best thing about the game.
What a hidden gem of a game. Sometimes you come across a cheap, fun little game on steam and you're blown away by just how fun it is. So here's all the positive sides of this game: + The price is really cheap. + The artstyle is amazing. + The combat is simple, but fun. + Writing is decent, but the translation is a bit shoddy. You can understand what they're saying, but it does feel a bit rough. + 100%ing the game took me about 15hours which I feel is a good length for this type of game. Honestly I think more people should play this game. If you find this game on sale definitely pick it up!
Since it was made by a russian developer i chose to play it in russian. It’s a 3-star linear mission-chain grind game with turn-based 2-phase square-grid squad combat. Despite having the word “tactics” in the name and having sufficient complexity of mechanics, the most important thing in the game is levelling up characters and gear. Actual tactical skills and proper team composition can give some leeway, but not being underlevelled is the only way to victory. Especially considering that starting position of your ships is random. There are four predetermined spots, but you have no control over at which spot which ship will be spawned. Si it’s not like you can plan for an ideal opening turn. The story is generic evil vizier type, with some family matters side arks. Plot has characters pop out of nowhere and disappear with no explanation. The writing is little bit rigid and a little bit uncanny in it’s artistic language. The narrative doesn’t come together. The story told in the cutscenes isn’t reflected in the level-design. They don’t contradict each other, but they never work in synergy. Level-design tells stories of ambush, of being cut-off, of overwhelming enemy force and of dangerous bottlenecks. Cutscenes only recite plot-points, never bothering to set up the fights. Art-style is cool, both for talking head and for the gear. The presentation is very clean and pleasant. The game works in UHD UWS Surround out of the box. The only thing it lacks is a keyboard shortcut for the “end turn” button. All achievement s are in working order, but outside of one they are all progression-based. Some even require extensive grind after the ending.
A cute quick game of Steampunk animals in airship battles, spread out over 40 pre-made stages (and each with 3 levels of difficulty). Position your airships carefully, choose your weapons wisely to beat enemy resistances, and eventually acquire a team of up to
4
pilots. All that coupled with the lovely character art by Saikono, seen in the pre/post-game conversations. With that said, there are regrettably some elements I found tiresome. For both you and your enemies, weapons only vary in two ways (when not counting raw stats): type of damage (bullets, torpedos, acid, etc.); and the location they hit (2 squares away horizontally, 3 squares away diagonally, etc.). Every attack always only hits one target, and only for a single direct instance of damage. Also, losses are an outright game over, so if you need to grind to beat a difficult stage, you will have to replay previous stages for the XP and upgrade materials. If you wind up having to repeat stages, this game could make you more weary than entertained. Not groundbreaking, but I still recommend it as a nice and modestly-priced distraction that can give you half a day's entertainment of simple tactics.
I was pretty sure I reviewed this. My mistake. It's a very cute game with animals in steam flying ships. It doesn't have much deep strategy but it's fun to do missions, gather materials and combine items. And now that it's cheaper it's definitely worth checking it out.
