Captain your own space ship and roam the galaxy in 3D in this tactical space simulator with tons of RPG depth ! Space has never looked so inviting - but images can betray...It has been two years since the end of the second Gemini war, the situation in the wartorn system is further from resolution than ever.

100% the game so that I can review this game with confidence. SPG2 is a Space Sim with RPG elements. Game got a decent size map with many different factions but can only be divided between Good/Bad alignment. Game got a healthy amount of varieties of space ships (~75), many of which got some great designs. Stories and missions are meh, lore content is scarce. The space sim elements and space combat is great and very enjoyable imo, though the maximum amount of ships in your fleet is only limit to 3 ships (your ship + 2 mercenaries). The game got a pretty steep progress curve, you start with the 1st class of space ship the Gunship and after 10~15 levels if you dont get the next tier of ship, the Corvette, you gonna start having trouble doing higher level missions in which there are multiple heavier weight ships than you. Pro-tips: The quickest way to earn money to buy new ships is to capture enemy ships and sell them to rake in them fat stacks. Overall a great game if you like space sim with RPG elements

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

A hidden jewel. One of the best games I have played. A product of pure love. Firstly it's an ARCADE space simulator and I love it. You see I come here from games like Terminal Velocity, Descent, and Rebel Galaxy. I just want to cruise through galaxy while doing quests and generally shoot the bad guys. When I see games that require from me a hundreds of key-binds, and to start the game I have to ask for permissions, have to had puls on my throttle, release clumps, hid landing wheels....ehh, even when I write this I have headache, and such games land in my library cemetery. Now understand that this is not an AA production. Voice acting sometimes lucks (except for Eleonor ;)), cut-scenes are usually videos from the game, and quests could be more interesting. Still open-world, freedom, RPG elements, not bad graphics and effects make this up generously. When I read complains here that this game is too easy I feel awkward, as this is exactly what I like here. No one is forcing anyone to use auto-fire, use mercenaries or fighters. They are here, just like difficulty switch witch it seems almost no one who complains using it. Few quick tips: if you don't want to get bored with grinding invest in capturing the ships. I wouldn't recommend beams for starting players-stay away from them at start. Reload fixes bugs. Watch-out for heavy weapons, the splash damage can "eat" your reputation quickly through splash damage. No major issues under Linux.

Can't finish game due to game breaking bug. I have a mission half way across the map and yet when I try to fly towards it I get a message telling me that I am flying out of the mission area and each time I do it basically tells me that the quest is over and gives me the option to play without continuing the campaign. I have no active quests in the area where I am at the moment. In fact I have no other quests period except the one that I am on. I attempted to use a T drive to fly straight into the mission but that crashed the game. While I looked around various forums for a solution I found a whole bunch of posts about other game breaking bugs that basically do not allow you to finish the game.
Enjoyed the game. 68 hours played. Progression= as you level, opponents get more powerful ships and more of them spawn. You have to develop your playing skills and grind a little to purchase bigger ships and update them to keep up with the environment. or stick to easy activities or run and hide. It is satisfying when you are successful against a small fleet of bad guys. Never made it into the DLC. Played up tp mid 40's. Then the game crashed hard (BSOD). couldn't reload saves, uninstalled, reinstalled. new game, played up to mid 50's. Then the game crashed hard (BSOD). couldn't reload saves. uninstalled, reinstalled. Now I can't get past a crash to desktop at the first station landing. repeatedly uninstalled, reinstalled, etc. Don't know if it's my machine or a bug in the game. But there're tons of other games
Plays awhile, but seems to crash alot later on.
I will mention that I got this for free on sale a few years back, and subsequently I have no real investment into the game being 'worth the money'. It's a pretty damn good space simulator, with a range of features and fun opportunities to enjoy yourself. I have read a review which labelled it as 'EVE Offline', and such a labelling could not be more accurate. Some pretty decent modding support and availability as well, which is a nice bonus. In all honesty, it's not a game worth its full sale price, but if you ever find that it's on a steep sale, or being given away for free, like older games sometimes are, it's definitely worth playing.
I've only played the Freeroam mode so far, but I have been loving it. Combat feels a little limited, but it is well polished. You have light and heavy weapons, shields you can boost with consumables and even repair items to help you last longer. It feels incredibly satisfying to out-maneuver a more powerful ship, nail a few good hits to disable its heavy weaponry and then proceed to tear it apart. Exploration is soothing. You get to fly across an expansive map, finding all sorts of resources and random encounters. Travelling across space is a sight for the eyes and when you're travelling w some valuable cargo, or a VIP guest, you'll often find yourself scouting everything around you for any surprise attacks. The merc system is pretty interesting, and the fact that you level up fairly quickly makes progression feel rewarding. That being said, it's a pity that some fights feel like they're just a numbers' battle, but it makes sense that a smaller, beginner ship cannot take a large warship. Overall, it's a very pleasant experience, with great sights, satisfying combat, but a little too simplistic. Nevertheless I strongly recommend giving it a go if you enjoy sci-fi series like Star Wars, Cowboy bebop and Lost Universe.
