They said Santa didn't exist, but I knew they were wrong. When Santa falls from the sky, John Wizard must summon characters from his games into the real world to help him save the day. John Wizard suspects his rival John Naught is behind it as usual. However, he is nowhere to be seen, and Santa is acting quite suspicious.

I'm nor an usual fan of the rpg genre, but boy, what a delightful game Stargazer Christmas is. As the title suggests, it's a game with a christmas thematic. But, for my surprise, it's a well executed one. I found that the mechanics are simple but they are more than enough for the progress of the game. Within 6h of gameplay, I was able to find myself contemplating at how clever some moments were. The story is simple, yet, it is full of jokes and references to a previous game of the developer. While I haven't played that previous game (I think it's Stargazer), I found it fun to see the interation between those chracters. I think it's a game made for moments when you want to relax, but it also gave me a quite enjoyable and uncommon story while feeding me with some challenging moments.

Casual RPG Puzzle adventure I love RPG’s, especially medieval fantasy. My RPG gaming virginity was broken by Ultima 7. The game play and humour was phenomenal especially finding characters based off of my childhood favourites, Mr Ed, Laurel & Hardy, Three Stooges, ect. My one special moment in the game was a locked house in the middle of a forest, once inside there was a Pirate, at a computer (which was playing the EA logo), doing something nefarious. Suddenly he stops, turns off the computer and screams at me “I’m not pirating games!” I laughed for days. Never have I ever player a game to equal Ultima, even the recent Elder Scrolls offerings, with their superb graphics and game play still seem to pale in comparison. I never got into the Zelda series, mostly because it was on those strange devices called a console. (BACK Satan! BACK I say!) And the graphics struck me as ‘childish’, compared to a PC. Now in my older days I wonder, ‘what if’? Stargazer Christmas is a RPG Puzzler in the form and fashion of the original Nintendo ‘Legend of Zelda’ games. Top down, isometric view of the game world with cute little character spirits as the player and population. The main cast are, John Wizard (the game maker himself), Harvey and Aurora, two of his own game creations and Mel an accidental guest from the meddling of John’s nemesis, John Naught. John Wizard suspects his nemesis, John Naught, is up to no good (again) with intentions to destroy Christmas (and John M’s new game release). One major problem is Santa Claus. Good old Saint Nick pillows into the ground after the Sledge is sabotaged (I bet it was Betty White, that smile of hers, it’s not cheer but an evil devious grin). In the aftermath, it is revealed that Santa’s amnesia is because he has lost his three alter egos, each being a nasty side of the big guy in red (explains why he never recognise me when I go from shop to shop). Also in your quest to unite the Santa’s, you are given the obligatory side quests from npc’s around town. These will range from finding tree decorations, to acquiring Christmas gifts for peoples pets. Most of the game play is puzzles of one kind or another, and thankfully they are not cryptic abstract ones (Oh, I see, so I needed to catch the cat in the painting on the ceiling to retrieve the rope to tie to my leg so I can climb out of the cupboard, WTF?!). One example is to roll up some snow into a ball and roll it over camp fires that are blocking your way. Another requires you to rotate peoples presents to the right recipient by questioning the receiver of the gift, what they would like for Christmas. All movement can be done by mouse click alone, but be careful, this suffers from the jumps, so instead of moving a rock out of the way, you could end up walking into a vat of boiling caramel toffee (I jump to my death willingly, by the way, is it non-fat salt free?). So use arrow key for most movement around the environment. Music is a good selection of Christmas tunes that are enjoyable but are ten thousand decibels too high, making you turn them off (there is no turning them down except via your own sound card), unfortunately some of your puzzles require you to have music on (Hey, I’m dumb, not deaf!!). The story line is funny and very well done, not Oscar material but better that some out there. And your travelling companions banter can get a bit monotonous but other times it is gaming gold. Graphics is a pre-3d Zelda clone so there is no ooohs or aahs there and the UI is clean and intelligent but if this turns you off, then it sucks to be you, go and play with your pocket protector. Other than a doggy mouse pointer and ear bleeding loud chorals, the only other frustrating thing is the standard RPG “Where the *%#@ is he” Syndrome. You know it, we have all been there, the one where you get a quest from a person, you eventually find their quest item but then you can not, for the life of you, find the person ever again. Yea that problem, you will get that here too and there is little help at hand to find said missing persons (At the moment I have an APB out for a guy with a Honey Badger. Calling all cars, calling all cars! Adam 12 where are you). All in all John Wizard has put together a rather enjoyable (and sometimes frustrating) casual RPG that will give you hours of fun. And you don’t need the Yule tide holiday as an excuse to play it. Why not pop Stargazer Christmas it into someone’s socks for next Christmas, you will be a hit.
Purely a puzzle game. It was a nice diversion from always having to fight your way through a game lol

My playtime: 03:37:52 (based on in game clock, 100% completion) Developer Response: Never. Note that this game automatically appeared on my library a few months after i purchased Stargazer.
Intro
Stargazer Christmas is a puzzle game set in a christmas day. Note that despite the game name being Stargazer, the game doesn't have any relation to the story at all except the fact that the main character is one of the characters in the game.
Graphics
If you have played a lot of RPG Maker games, especially the ones with RTP (default RPG Maker assets), this game might be a shock for you. The graphics are so colorful and each regions are fit to the theme. The UI is also fully customized that you won't see any default RPG Maker menu style in it. If you have played Stargazer before, the UI and graphics are mostly the same as that. The game takes off in different location though so if you think that the dev is reusing their map, you're wrong.
Story
It's christmas. John Naught is ruining the christmas and we have to stop it. Following those premises, John Wizard (yes, the developer is in the game), summoned some help in order to save the christmas. The story is mostly related to christmas so you won't have to worry if you don't play Stargazer before. However, i do believe that this game is a sequel to another christmas themed game since the story started as if the bad guy is doing the bad things again and some characters are not introduced at all; it's as if they have been introduced in the previous game, which is certainly not Stargazer. It doesn't ruin the experience of the game though because what i enjoyed of the game isn't the story, but more of the side quests and the puzzles that you have solve to complete the game. The story is still a nice addition to it though.
The game
As i said before, this is a puzzle game with a bit of story and adventure in it. You'll have to explore some areas and solve some puzzles in order to obtain items that will help other people to enjoy their christmas. There won't be any battle in the game at all since the main event of this game is the problem solving. Even though the game mostly revolves around puzzles, the puzzles aren't really that hard. The only thing that is a bit hard is to track all the things that you have to do (especially if you're not playing it in one sitting) since there are a lot of things that needs to be done. Sure, there is a journal to keep track of the most important quests, but the journal won't track your side quests. I'm not sure if you need to complete all of the side quests to finish the game since i finished them all before going to the final area, but i believe that you can just go ahead and finish the game even without completing all of them. The game is fully costumized to play with mouse button although i prefer to play it with keyboard. However, you can't talk or interact with objects with your keyboard despite the help page saying that you can do it with enter button. I ended up playing the whole game like a left handed person playing a right handed game with no customizable control since you can't walk with wasd button. Lastly, the game tends to be slowed down whenever i'm walking even though i turned the special effects off. I'm not sure if it's because of my crappy laptop or the game itself though. Pros: - A lot of puzzles - Side quests Cons: - The game is a bit slow sometimes even with the graphic effects turned off - Unable to talk or interact with keyboard
Conclusion
This is an amazing christmas themed puzzle game. Note that you don't need to understand any stories beforehand to enjoy the game.
Should you buy this game?
Yes. If you like puzzle games with a bit of story, you should try it. Buy it on discount though because it's pretty short.
Tried to record this game for YouTube. Fullscreen, AGAIN, has problems. So, only possibility? A square. Wich doesnt even cover halve my monitor. i wasted 99 cents.
I am 32 years old. My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old. When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing. Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side. With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of you. In fact, I may have played this game for only a day or two. That being said, after doing so, I had a new joy and hope for life. I managed to leave behind the pain and suffering that had been thrust upon me. I could experience the joy and happineass of other people. I relaxed for 5 ♥♥♥♥ minutes listening to this music, long enough to realize that I would be okay. After realizing this, I turned off the game and went back to work. My hand hurt a lot, but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so sorry for myself and became the father I needed to be at that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving like. Today, I am close friends with the mother of my children. We don't fight, argue, or say hurtful things to each other. We are parents and friends. Now I have 3 children. My third child is, wait, ALSO 4 YEARS OLD. The woman I am with was going through a very similar situation at the time of my separation, and we just unexpectedly stumbled into each other's lives. We have been dating for a year and are very happy together. Moral of the story: you never know what life has in store for you, and if I had given up when all odds were against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that. Thank you.
