A basic gameplay loop where you jump your ship to a system, kill anything hostile in it, and explore everything before moving on. The writing and visual novel style interactions when you explore and interact with other beings is where it shines. The overarching mystery and story, and final twist is very well paced and really good, which more than makes up for any of the games shortcomings.
Now, I wanna start off first saying that I absolutely loved this game. I can tell that the person who made it put a lot of heart and soul into it, because trust me, from what I've heard from people that's made games or worked with programming, this kind of stuff ain't easy to do. You can tell they poured hours upon hours of work and long periods of thinking about the story and plot and all that to come up with what they did. And the final result is, in my opinion, great. The story kept me captivated, and I really looked forward to seeing how it was gonna end. Now, the only big drawbacks I had was the fact that, like other people have stated, there's a whole lot of running back and forth between a lot of places, and that gets pretty tedious at times, but I also think it also shows a pretty big lesson. Space is massive. It ain't this small little area that you just bounce between like in a bunch of other space games. No. The vast majority of space is just emptiness, just void. So yeah, I understand the premise, but for some people, that probably ain't exactly the most thrilling. And a second caveat, which really ain't explained until you figure it out late in the game: the morale system. One of the achievements is locked behind getting an extremely high morale, and one of the things that the game does not tell you is that you lose morale just by literally saving the game, on top of taking ship damage, or losing crew members or anything like that. But the aspect that you lose morale from just saving itself when the game auto-saves when you bounce between systems is the most stupid aspect of this entire game. So be warned if you're looking to try to achievement hunt by getting all the achievements on this game, you're either going to have to save as infrequently as possible and turn off auto-saving, or you're gonna end up having to save game edit when you beat the game in order to get that one achievement that requires the highest morale. Despite that, if you can overlook the vastness of what you have to do, the story is actually pretty good. And again, I would recommend anyone that's actually into space exploration games and into these kinds of mystery stories to actually give the game a try, because it's something that did end up getting me interested. I've always loved games like this, so maybe I'm a little biased. Also, the game is finished, from what i saw. I had no issues with the game itself. No missing content. Story didn't abruptly end. I do not know why they claim the game is abandoned.
Well worth it for hours of relaxing exploration and research as you slowly uncover the story. Quite a bit of variety in the ship builds too!
not a bad game, but so much worse than: Starcom: Unknown Space just play it and leave this one aside. Except maybe a couple of hours max, just to feel the difference
gud
Absolute Suchtgefahr! :)
A great star ship-based RPG with an interesting story to tell. I purchased both this and Starcom Unknown Space. Having completed this, I seriously doubt that Unknown Space is going to have as interesting a story to tell, but I look forward to finding out.
Addictive, stayed up way too late playing this. Makes ship customization fun and not a chore. Lots of choice. Maybe not really replayable but absolutely worth buying.
Bueno juego para explorar
