About

In Starbound, you create your own story - there’s no wrong way to play! You may choose to save the universe from the forces that destroyed your home, uncovering greater galactic mysteries in the process, or you may wish to forego a heroic journey entirely in favor of colonizing uncharted planets.

Settle down and farm the land, become an intergalactic landlord, hop from planet to planet collecting rare creatures, or delve into dangerous dungeons and lay claim to extraordinary treasures.
Discover ancient temples and modern metropolises, trees with eyes, and mischievous penguins. Make use of hundreds of materials and over two thousand objects to build a sleepy secluded cabin in the woods, a medieval castle, underwater arcade, or even a space station.

Starbound has been built from the ground up to be multiplayer and easily moddable. You have the tools to make the universe your own and modify the game to suit your play style - add new items, races, planet types, dungeons, and quests - the possibilities are limitless.

Each DLC is estimated with the same model as a game, then summed — a modeled figure, not reported DLC sales.
Sums Steam only; Xbox, GOG publish no volume signal, so the true total is higher by an unknown amount.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,420 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Starbound. What to say that hasn't already been said? I did have fun with the game, I liked the linear story missions, I liked the bosses, I loved some of the mechanics like turning into a ball that can roll on the ceiling, I liked stuffing my ship with various decorations and junk. But, there always something that brought down the experience just a little bit. Many of the story "missions" being to explore random planets and get lucky that you find the things you need to scan. The fact that it feels really unoptimized and held together by hopes. The limitless fetch/kill quests with mixed rewards. Way back when the Bounty Hunter/Mech update dropped I naively thought that Starbound would start making updates that would slowly bring it to prominence. Yeah, that didn't happen and it is such a shame that it will never happen. Regardless, I can't bring myself to say that I would not recommend this game. I still think about some of the mechanics, I still think about the Matter Manipulator, I still think about the concept of the plot and its loose ends. All together, a decent game that had potential and one that people can get at least some enjoyment out of.
Ive loved this game since i was kid, still love it. 10/10

It's a pretty decent game, but i would recommend Terraria more, I still recommend this. its kinda fun.
i have always played heavily modded, and even i can tell that vanilla starbound is ♥♥♥♥ from a butt Can be v fun with mods tho :3
