It would take 25 years to randomly have any luck with these clunky controls. Practically unplayable.
The gameplay is typical of most point-and-click adventures of the era. Some things don't really make any sense and the puzzles are more trial and error than actual deductions and logic. The voice acting is stilted, but at least it's by the original actors. The space combat is basic, but has its charms. Overall it's an enjoyable romp that aligns with the spirt of the source material.

Not every licensed Star Trek game gets it right, but 25th Anniversary (PC edition anyway) is one that does. Each mission feels like it could be an actual episode, and the interface is largely straightforward. There are moments that can cause frustration, but one should be ready to try anything. Not everything will work, but keeping an open mind helps. Especially if the path forward comes from an unexpected action. Save early, save often and you'll find your way through. (Make sure you keep the star map handy. While you can brute force your way through to figure out where to go, that's not really needed when the answer is close by.)
I remember playing this as a new game when i was a kid, the nostalgia factor is great and it's still fun to hear the original cast reprising their roles for some new adventures. The DOSBOX implementation is fantastic and its just as i remember it... oh and they dont have the phantom speedup for ship battles like old emulators used to so its just like being on an old 486. ENJOY!
macht spaß. mit liebe programmiert.
A good version of a classic game. I have such fond memories of this thing on my x286 PC back in the day. I never had a chance to play it with the voice cast and they actually for the most part did a great job! Great piece of history and as far as I can tell it's exactly like the game was intended at release (Unlike LOOM which you should 100% avoid on Steam).
imteresting game for star trek fans
If, like me, you grew up watching Star Trek on a small black & white Sony TV, then you will love this game! The crew of the Enterprise are all here from TOS, with voice acting from the original actors, and sound effects just like you remember! Each mission plays out like an episode from the TV series, so you will visit various planets and encounter a wide variety of situations. Note that the game can be challenging at times, so don't feel bad consulting a walkthrough if you get stuck! 25th Anniversary and its sequel, Judgment Rites, are must-play games for any fan of the original Star Trek!
