Je vais vite , et j'aime beaucoup la gimmick de volé! Excellente twist du genre sans être trop hors sujet. La DA est vraiment cool
Star Racer is a fast, colorful, and unapologetically arcade-driven sci-fi racer that leans heavily into nostalgia while still trying to push the genre forward with inventive mechanics and creative freedom. Developed and published by Whatnot Games, it channels the spirit of classic futuristic racers from the 90s era, but reframes that influence through modern design sensibilities and a surprising amount of depth. From the outset, the game communicates its priorities clearly: speed is king, spectacle matters, and mastery comes from learning how to balance aggression, precision, and adaptability in constantly shifting race conditions. The moment-to-moment racing in Star Racer is built around momentum and flow. Vehicles move at blistering speeds, and tracks are designed to emphasize long straights, sweeping curves, vertical drops, and airborne sections that demand confidence and commitment from the player. Drifting, boosting, and managing energy resources form the core of the gameplay loop, and these systems are tightly interconnected. Boosting too aggressively can leave you vulnerable, while playing too conservatively often means falling behind. Combat elements add another layer, allowing racers to damage opponents or defend themselves, but combat never fully eclipses racing skill; positioning and line choice remain the most important factors in success. A defining feature of Star Racer is how often it asks players to think beyond a flat plane. Many tracks incorporate jumps, gliding sections, and moments of reduced gravity that transform races into semi-aerial experiences. These sections reward spatial awareness and timing, as poor alignment can result in lost speed or disastrous landings. Environmental hazards such as lava flows, ice patches, narrow platforms, and shifting obstacles keep races unpredictable, ensuring that memorization alone is never enough. Even experienced players must stay alert, as a single mistake at high speed can cascade into a significant loss of momentum. Presentation is one of Star Racer’s strongest assets. The pixel-art aesthetic is vibrant and expressive, capturing a retro feel without feeling dated or crude. Tracks are packed with visual detail, from glowing neon cities to alien landscapes and industrial space facilities, all rendered with clarity that supports high-speed readability. The soundtrack elevates the experience further, delivering energetic, melodic tracks that reinforce the sense of speed and excitement. Music plays a crucial role in maintaining the game’s momentum, making races feel exhilarating rather than exhausting, and helping Star Racer stand out through sheer audiovisual personality. Beyond standard races, the game offers a strong sense of variety. Event-style races introduce unique rule sets and objectives that force players to adapt their strategies, whether that means focusing on precision driving, time management, or survival under unusual constraints. These modes prevent the experience from becoming monotonous and encourage experimentation with different racers and playstyles. The roster itself adds to this variety, with characters and vehicles that feel distinct enough to justify trying multiple options rather than sticking to a single favorite. One of the most ambitious aspects of Star Racer is its emphasis on player creativity. The inclusion of a track editor dramatically extends the game’s lifespan, allowing players to design custom courses and share them with others. This feature turns Star Racer into more than just a packaged racing experience; it becomes a platform for community-driven content and experimentation. Custom tracks can range from tightly balanced competitive circuits to wild, chaotic creations that test the limits of the physics and mechanics. For players who enjoy building as much as racing, this editor is a major draw and a clear statement of the developer’s long-term vision. Multiplayer focuses primarily on local play, with split-screen racing supporting social, couch-based competition. This design choice reinforces the game’s retro roots, evoking memories of arcade cabinets and living-room rivalries. While the lack of fully integrated online multiplayer may limit its appeal for some competitive players, the local and Remote Play options still provide plenty of opportunities for shared chaos and friendly rivalry. Star Racer feels especially alive when played with others, where crashes, comebacks, and last-second boosts create memorable moments. Star Racer is not without its challenges. The learning curve can be steep, particularly for players unfamiliar with high-speed futuristic racers. The combination of speed, combat, energy management, and aerial control can feel overwhelming at first, and difficulty ramps up noticeably as tracks grow more complex. There are also occasional rough edges in terms of polish, such as minor control quirks or visual inconsistencies, which remind players of the game’s indie origins. However, these issues rarely undermine the core experience and are often outweighed by the game’s ambition and personality. Overall, Star Racer is a confident, energetic, and content-rich futuristic racer that succeeds by embracing what makes arcade racing exciting rather than chasing realism. Its blend of speed, combat, verticality, and creative freedom gives it a distinct identity, and its strong audiovisual presentation reinforces that appeal. While it may not cater to every racing fan, particularly those seeking simulation accuracy or online-focused competition, it offers a rewarding and memorable experience for players who enjoy skill-based arcade racing with a retro soul and modern flexibility. Rating: 7/10
Star Racer is a very fun time. Racing at a variety of speed classes, while also harkening to two certain older classic video games. If one is more used to 3D arcade racers, this one may take a little adjusting to, but not to worry: the in-game tutorial has everyone covered (it's also pretty witty). The ability to fly and shoot also opens up new avenues, not just in races, but in track design and the official tracks reflect that. Speaking of tracks, the amount of possible obstacles that can be used overall is quite wide. Ranging from toxic and lava zones to magnet strips, fog, pillars, mines, fans, jet streams and more! Even decorations like buildings can be part of the action! If that's not enough, this game comes with a built-in track editor. The user SilentFox has made tutorials on how to make use of the Track Editor! (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ydKAYrbH_RI) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pB3k3N6wIKQ) Still, it's rather intuitive and usable with both a mouse and controller. The best part is that there is yet to be a known limit of how many tracks you can store locally. (Custom Tracks can even be shared on the Steam Workshop!) Another thing to address is the CPU racers. They're pretty consistent opponents (especially starting at the Pro Class). However, their behavior does depend on a track's design (doubly so if its a Custom Track). Mileage will vary. If you do get way ahead of them though, the Fuzz will come to help keep things closer. But you, as a Star Racer, will have ways to fight back. In fact knocking others out can be a huge play if you find yourself low on resources. Then, we have Event Races. Special Star Racer situations that will test any one playing this game. These aren't the run-on-the-mill missions you find in most racing games. You might be racing with two vehicles at once, trying to play golf, or trying to deal with supersized opponents. (We also can't forget about the soundtrack! It's a great listen when you're racing at high speeds) If you've been really wanting to try a game that combines elements from two beloved Sci-Fi classics and then does more with them, Star Racer may be for you.
Great game but have been waiting for multiplayer before jumping back on is multiplayer still coming out for the game?
This is a damn good gravity racing game.
If F Zero had a sequel of any kind this is the one alright. Love how the essence of the original snes game is captured with this one.
A Phenomenal, if very challenging racer and a worthy successor to F-Zero. The game is definitely money well spent.
Fun racer that blends elements of Fzero and Starfox. Sounds like a strange marriage of ideas but it works so well and is a great couch racer with friends. Check it out!
Awesome racing game with a great aesthetic, fun tracks, catchy music, and gameplay developments that sets itself apart from being purely 'an F-Zero clone' while still capturing that vibe. The game can be incredibly difficult on higher settings, but it can feel very rewarding once you've mastered some of the gameplay tricks. The racers feel significantly different from each other (some incentivize you to collect as many power-ups or 'capsules' as possible, others to be very aggressive and wreck the competition) which keep new Grand Prix runs exciting. There is a custom course editor and tracks to download from Steam Workshop, but I do wish there were a few more tracks in the base game. That said, I could race around to Dice Roll Raceway on repeat forever. If you love racing games, give it a try.
Great retro f zero vibe. Handling is spot on. Music is nice. Guys big loud voice is irritating. I know it's retro but would like the vehicles to have a little more detail. Lots to do and loads of fun to be had. Would be nice if you could fire weapons while not flying. Excellent game and nice price.
