Awesome, can't wait for Spyro: ARB!
Growing up i really enjoyed playing spyro on the playstation 2 and i was so excited to hear that they were making a remastered version. I played through it a bunch on my steam deck and it ran pretty well on it. The issue i have with this game is the fact that they made this game and they completely ignored any bugs that it has. The one bug thats a huge no for me is when you are playing it on the steam deck on offline mode and it saves it to the local file on ur hard drive. When you go back to online mode. The steam cloud save over rides ur local save when the steam cloud is not the most current save file.
Traz de volta boas lembranças e cria novas. Esse remake ficou perfeito! Recomendo!
With 100% all achievements and most of the skill points completed having not done the original so I think I can now give my thoughts on all of the elements of the game as a standalone title with no spoilers.
Gameplay
It's a very solid collectathon game with surprisingly challenging puzzles in each game. It was really fun. In terms of replay value, it doesn't really have much going for it. Games of this genre don't have much replay value but to someone who likes speedrunning I would say MOST of the game is rather fun. The only exceptions I would say are some of the minigames in the Year of the Dragon game. They're not very fun, the controls are extremely jank and it's not very satisfying to finish them, but that's about it. I also did not like the final boss of the third game, as it relied a lot on extremely janky and confusing mechanics that were very boring and not fun. Solid 8/10 gameplay that doesn't overstay its welcome which I honestly thought this remaster would do cough cough FFVII Remake cough cough . The first game gets a 9/10 in this category. The second game gets a 9.5/10 in this category. The third game gets a 7.5/10 in this category.
Story
Each game has a very interesting story that takes a much more lighthearted and comedic twist on classic fairytales and fantasy stories. For each game I would say they succeeded in doing their job. I managed to get a few chuckles out of some of the jokes and references which I didn't expect, so my guess is the writing was mostly intact, it's possible that certain jokes and whatnot from the original games didn't make it here. In either case, I enjoyed it. The ending for each game is somewhat predictable, but nice to see. There's not much to say about the first game so I'll skip over to the second and third games. I loved most of the side characters in each game. They're not insufferable and all have nice personalities. I especially liked the character growth of Hunter and Elora between the second and third games. While they don't change much from a personality standpoint, they do go through small character arcs growing alongside Spyro. Another small detail I liked is that Spyro kept the abilities he got in the second game and they transferred over to the third game rather than you having to relearn them, which was a nice touch. The main villains are all great mirrors of Spyro. While Spyro is courageous, headstrong, and mature, the villains are cowardly, power-hungry, greedy, and childish. Each of them have a significant flaw with themselves that makes their villainous actions understandable. While each of them are simple in characterization they all do a great job at getting their point across to the player. The first game gets a 8/10 score in this category. The second game gets a 8.5/10 score in this category. The third game get gets a 9/10 score in this category.
Designs
The graphics are very well done, with each of the character designs taking advantage of new hardware and the Unreal Engine. Spyro's design is very appealing in this version along with the other side characters. I do have some questions about the dragons in the first game, but I can get past that as I only see them for a few seconds, so it's not something that bothers me too much. Looking at some of the characters of the original game, it definitely seems clear that the original designs are dated. They might have looked good for their time, but upgrading the design and visuals helps make the case for the trilogy getting a remaster so that a younger audience can appreciate the trilogy. The trilogy gets a 8.5/10 in this category.
Soundtrack
Firstly, I need to praise the devs for adding the option of the original soundtrack that you can switch to at any point in the options, it gave me an opportunity to experience both soundtracks and they are very good. A lot of the new music stays rather faithful to the original while adding a few. A lot of this music is music that I would personally listen to for intense studying and getting things done during the day. It's great for a montage. The reignited music reignites the original sountrack by adding more volume and more instruments. The trilogy gets an overall score of 9/10
Conclusion
This was a great trilogy remaster to play. While there were some lows mostly from the third game, this remaster did a very good job. While I'm not of the targeted demographic age of this game, I still found a lot of fun in this game. If you like collectathons, give this game a shot. It's somewhat challenging and one of the better and more necessary remasters for an older game. Overall rating: 8.5/10
Pontos positivos: * antigo Spyro com novos gráficos, respeitando a obra antiga * dublado em ptbr * 3 em 1 * animações/movimentos fluidos * música remasterizada Pontos negativos: * batalhas frustrantes contra alguns bosses, principalmente no 2º título
Controls and camera are ass. I was never a big fan of the original so I'm not blinded by rose tinted glasses.
Very glitchy port :(
such a W platformer definitely can be jank and frustrating at times but I love this trilogy flying levels are NOT that bad, they can be fun when learned
TREMENDO JUEGAZO!!!, recomendado para estar bien de Chill.
