Controls feel weird, camera is mostly locked centre with no way to look in other directions. Spyro also very often simply floats on the ground slowly moving in a direction even with no input from keyboard/controller.
I didn't grow up with Spyro, so I picked this up to see what he's all about. For the most part, he ended up boring me. I would not play any of the 3 games again. I did enjoy a handful of levels, and the flying challenges. Otherwise it's a rather flat collectathon. And this might be my own mistake, I was expecting more of a platforming experience, but the focus here is on simply collecting things. If you like that, or have Nostalgia for Spyro, I'm sure it's enjoyable. That said the presentation is solid, and appreciated. Which makes me feel bad when give it a Thumbs Down, alas... I supposes there's a reason Spyro didn't continue as a series. Anyway, I wouldn't recommend this, you're better off playing Mario. This experience has really given context to why Mario was/is King of Platformers.
I'm playing this because the nostalgia hits hard (i grew up playing the Originals from 1998 to 2000), but the gameplay mechanics feel unfinished compared to the originals. You'll be moving around then try to stand still/stop moving , but the character model will drift a few feet. Developers have had years to patch bugs but they're still present. :(
Will always be my all time very series of games! The PSX Spyro games are extremely nostalgic and will always be my comfort game.

Fun when I was a kid. Now I'm enjoying it as an adult. Beautifully remastered. Love the individual dragons and their character design.
I love the Spyro games but can't recommend this because it's pretty unplayable. Don't feel like troubleshooting it too much more than I already have, I'm sure if I turn my PC off and on and install DirectX and cap the frames and leave it in windowed and don't open anything else and unplug all the appliances and mount an aluminum antenna and call it a "good lad" and tut at it like I'm trying to soothe a baby and give Activision forty more dollars, it might run without pissing me off. Or I could just play the collection on my PS4 where it works completely fine.
There's a bug if you play offline on Steam Deck where your save file reverts to the last one you played online. I've lost several hours of offline data to this multiple times so I just cannot play on my Steam Deck anymore with this or I'm gonna burn out. This is such an incredibly stupid bug.
