Spyro is goated, but the Reignited Trilogy has enough problems to make this a not recommend. In addition to some content being slightly worse implemented, the physics is really messed up, tldr, cap your fps at 30, the other workarounds will make the issues better, but the 30 fps cap is the only way for it to be actually right.

If you have ever played spyro on ps1 you will love this, and if not give it a try this game its a classic.

Nostalgic DREAM! I wish there were more games like this. The third game is a little buggy, and in the first game, the magic door in Alpine ridge gets stuck shut unless I change to 30fps. Other than that, incredible remake with expressive animation and unforgettable characters! I'm excited to see what Toys For Bob cook up for the new game.

Worth it while on sale. Lacks the feel of the originals, but with updated graphics. All the surfaces are coated in a thin layer of slime making you slide around with horrible handling. Poorly placed invisible walls, bugs, "soap" like movement controls, getting stuck in the same place after a quick turn, and a bit dumbed down from the original. Like it was being made FOR Activation executive staff and not actual gamers. Game testers weren't the only thing they skipped on to save money it seems. It's Spyro though, so still fun. Best on sale though sadly. Everything else looks great with a lot of work put into the visuals and VA's. Just sucks that no one play tested it

Great games, and the PC port is passable. I played the originals countless times on the PS1 and played the remaster on console when it first came out. I've since sold my consoles and primarily play on PC and had a hankering, saw it on a Steam sale and decided to get it here too. There were some PC-specific bugs with this port but nothing too unmanageable. You'll need to tinker with the framerate cap and VSync settings if you want to play on anything higher than 30FPS (which you probably do in 2026). It's nothing that quick Google search can't fix, but I was a bit disappointed that these things haven't been patched yet. I get that the console demographic is probably the biggest by far for these games, but still. Once I enabled VSync I was able to keep my framerate cap unlimited and have experienced very few bugs. Sometimes Spyro will still kind of slide ever so slightly when standing still, and I don't remember that being the case in the console versions. It hasn't been anything game-affecting, but when I first launched it with VSync turned off it was downright unplayable. Also the game auto-launches Steam VR for some reason which is barely an actual inconvenience, just again something weird I would have thought they'd have patched out by now and can be fixed pretty easily. As far as the games themselves go, it's overall a pretty faithful remake of the classics down to pretty much every detail with a few quality of life tweaks (most notably that you can click the left stick to make Sparx point in the direction of the nearest treasure which makes 100%ing the games much easier than it was on the PS1), some redesigning (it looks a bit more modern cartoony as opposed to PS1 cartoony), some characters (most notably and questionably Sheila) were given bigger redesigns, and some tweaks were made to bring it up to more modern standards of being kid-friendly (some dialogue or character names were tweaked, actual guns were replaced with goo guns, etc. etc.) but if you really want a true OG experience you should find a way to play the actual originals or look into mods that can undo some of the modernization. The first 2 games could be beaten in a day each and 100%ed in a weekend each, but the 3rd feels like it has a bit more mileage. Spyro 1 is really good and feels the most nostalgic even though I probably played it the least as a kid. After you've played the other 2 it will feel a little barebones, but overall I'm glad they didn't retroactively add swimming, headbashing, climbing, and other things from the later games into Spyro 1 and instead opted to keep the core gameplay the same. Spyro 2 has a pretty unique feel to it, but sometimes I missed how Spyro 1 never really required you to backtrack to previous levels after unlocking new abilities if you wanted to 100% previous levels. Spyro 3 was my favorite as a kid but for some reason this playthrough I'm finding myself leaning closer to it being my 2nd favorite of the trilogy. I used to love playing as other characters and doing skateboarding/vehicle side missions but now those levels feel somewhat like a chore and I'd rather keep playing as regular Spyro. It also required backtracking to previous worlds after unlocking certain characters, which never used to bother me but for some reason I've found it a bit annoying. Some of the levels and characters feel a bit less polished than the other 2 in this port, but IMO the 3rd has the best story, most boss & level variety, and the longest levels. These are great games if you enjoy old school platformers, and you'll especially get a lot of time out of them if you're the type to enjoy 100%ing games since the game easily lets you track your completion. If you've never played the originals but always wanted to, this is a good entry to the series, but if you truly want an unaltered reliving of the originals you might be offput by some of the modernizations so watch a few cutscenes on YouTube and decide for yourself how you feel about the new looks. Luckily it does let you toggle between "reignited" OST and the originals and I find myself bouncing between the two. Be ready to perform some quick fixes to get it to work well on your PC, and if you enjoy playing on a console anyway you might should just consider getting this on your console. The keyboard/mouse controls were surprisingly not that terrible, though a controller is obviously the intended way to play these games. It's not a perfect port, but good enough that I would recommend even at full price but even more so if you can get it on sale.
