Sproots is a colony management survival game where you control a group of 'sproots' - small pikmin-like creatures - that are in constant need of food and water. They can explore different biomes, pick up objects and study them, learn skills, craft structures and items and teach each other about their findings.

If the fleaworker bug is fixed this game would be complete! This is a fantastic game, for less than $4 you'll get your money's worth- as is. It has a great simple art style, which complements gameplay and its use of time. It has a casual look and approach but is actually quite deep and provides hours of gameplay. The main downsides would be: -there isn't an option to fast forward time or pause- tbh I think this is a nice feature, though was off put by it when I first started playing. -the developers have seemed to move on to their other games/projects. -there's a really annoying bug that causes the game to crash within 1-2 minutes after hitting a certain point. Being that the devs have moved on, there doesn't seem to be a fix on the horizon, or solutions from others. If you are the type of person who'd like to play a complete playthrough of a game you like, then I would caution you to reserve your purchase for another Sokpop game. (Pyramida is somewhat similar) There is a persistent bug around the 35-50 day mark involving a missing flea worker. And it is gamebreaking for the above type player. Though there isn't much discussion around the game, the majority is focused on this issue and seeking resolutions. To which there aren't any. If this bug is fixed I would be happy to alter my review appropriately.
Love this game - Sokpop is incredible. There's an issue with it crashing if you make it to day ~45 though, which is a little disappointing. But for $3 - I got WAY more than my money's worth. So much charm and cool gameplay for so little money :)
I like these type of games, cute and things to discover and grow, but it crashed a few times when I feel like I've got something going on.
I don't feel like there is any real goal to the game
Not worth your time. Very little to do or achieve, and extremely tedious. The lack of task queues makes it near impossible to juggle more than 3 guys at once, since every task takes either 3 seconds to complete (click, harvest, done) or annoyingly long micromanagement (click sproot, click jar, click food icon, reclick jar because it messed up, reclick food, click eat food). Any long term goal is requires this annoying micromanagement on a larger scale. If you want to build a stockpile of spears you have to get one guy to go get the thorns, which means you have to individually guide him to each thorn stalk, while keeping his food and water up, and while stopping him from filling his inventory with trash every 5 seconds. You have to do the exact same for the stick guy, hopefully at the same time. You then have to move the sticks and thorns one by one into jars and then into one person's inventory so that they can build the spears one by one. And there really isnt a reward for any of this. Your first 30 minutes of the game are going to show you everything about it.
Received in the Yogscast Jingle Jam bundle Super cute game, and gives me colony sim type vibes, but it's too slow and tedious for me. Task queues, tech sharing, and much more inventory space would have been super helpful
Sproots is a hard recommendation as I have not finished it and doubt I ever will due to the achievements needing very long and successful runs. My number one annoyance with the game is actually a sound effect made by the pest in the game, but that isn't a deal breaker. I am sure as you play it you'll figure out strategies for longer survival, but I never quite got there. I'll go back to this in the future.
Click sproot >> click bush >> click sproot >> click pot >> click pot again >> NO DON'T EAT IT >> click sproot >> click pot >> click sproot >> click pot >> click different sproot >> click pot >> click berry >> click pot >> click berry. This was to feed one sproot, if you have more than three then good luck. Food automation/sproots going to the food pots when hungry would have done so much for the game.
This is game quite simple and fun! there isn't much content but definitely a try to this game, its cute and somewhat entertaining!
Forced fullscreen along with lack of options for volume or screen, made streaming on discord impossible. I wish my gripes ended there. It feels challenging in the wrong ways. It isn't first time user friendly with very little information available. Granted finding things out is what one does in these types of games, it's very easy for the first playthrough to become utter ♥♥♥♥ and with very little feeling of reason behind it. Creatures eat the berry bushes, make pots to stop it. After that? Use spears? But only hit one thing before your spear is carried off with no way to recover it. Granted there's only two of them this is ridiculous and creates urgency that won't be taken care of. I'm sure there's more to the game, and since refunding takes forever and the game was less than $5 I'll be playing off and on to find that more, but the first impressions so far are dreadful and do not make you want to continue playing.
