About
Species: Unknown is a first-person survival horror game, playable in co-op with up to 4 players (private or public servers) or solo. You play as a mercenary sent aboard an abandoned spaceship. Your job? Execute high-risk contracts, make it out alive, and claim your reward. But keep in mind that you’re not alone. Something is hunting you…
Form a squad of up to 4 players to take on different contracts with escalating difficulty. Each mission plays differently depending on your objective, your teammates, the map and which of the 5 intelligent threats is stalking you. No one survives alone, but you can try.

Proximity Chat & Radio are available: distance matters, walls matter. Proximity Chat is bringing more tension, sometimes chaos, and unforgettable moments to your co-op sessions.

Every contract drops you into a different nightmare. Whether you're tasked with extracting a black box, capturing or eliminating an unknown threat, or even destroying the ship to prevent the creature from escaping… Each mission demands a specific strategy and none of them are easy.
The specimen is chosen procedurally from a growing roster of terrifying monsters. Each one comes with distinct behaviors, hunting patterns, strengths, and weaknesses. You’ll need to investigate your surroundings to gather vital clues and identify the threat in order to proceed smoothly (or not). Do your job and get rewarded, or die without anyone knowing.

Strategize as a group, make smart use of your tools that can turn the tide, if only for a moment:
Motion Tracker : Detect nearby movement and prepare for what's coming
Shield : Block deadly attacks and buy time for your team
Health Syringe : Heal yourself or allies in the heat of battle
Mini-Map : Navigate pitch-black corridors with real-time positional data
Guns won’t always save you. Some threats are too resistant or simply untouchable. But the right weapon, found at the right time, can help you push through or even take the creature down.

The higher the risk, the higher the reward. Completing contracts earns you credits you can use to:
Upgrade your gear
Buy new tools
Customize your appearance
Gather lore and build your own creature museum

Too few observations to say whether a discount moves this store's chart at all: across the last 30 days Steam · Top Sellers · Poland has just 18 day-to-day chart moves that followed a price cut, against 2,498 that did not. We are publishing the count instead of a direction — 20 is the fewest we will draw a conclusion from, and price collection outside the United States began on 6 August 2026.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Got my face bitten off, head stabbed by gladosl, gunned down by Arnold Schwarzenegger, eaten alive by zombies, head twirled off by squidward, body crushed by the worlds ugliest xmen, and body atomized Dr. Manhattan style.....This is the most fun I've had repeatedly dying in a game.
Fun and enjoyable jump scare game to play with a group of friends.
Solid base with great potential and surprisingly damn well optimized! Don't get fooled by the price, it's worth more than what it cost.
I have had way too much fun with this game so far, it's a great time even with just 2 players!
Preem game
I'm loving the game and the overall idea of it. It's a rare instance of an unreal engine game that looks really good. Truly a breath of fresh air. As for the mechanics my only complaint is there is only one map and the AI of the wraith is so stupidly annoying that I reload the mission every time I see it. It is way too aggressive and kills you even when it's not supposed to. I can't wait to see what new equipment, maps, and species of stuff they add to the game. Edit: Ok the turrets are stupid and annoying as hell. They just pop out of nowhere without any consistency or warning and 4 shot you. They'd be cool as a new enemy called the hostile AI for the ship where the rogue AI would try to vent parts of the ship to kill you AND have the turrets as the main enemy but not turrets on top of the pre existing enemy. I can even see maybe the turrets being a difficulty tweak for the level 4 difficulty but NOT 2 AND UP.
Just wanted to add another positive review to this game. What a pleasant surprise for a horror game fan like Alien Isolation and anything Frictional Games throw (SOMA). Adding to what a lot of folks have already shared. I love this loop of preparing for mission and then getting into the map where every round you will learn something new and become better at the game without the specimen or the environment stopping ever of feeling dangerous. After a round you are already thinking about the next one. It is true that sometimes you might try to go for a harder contract without the right upgrades/experience and you will be punished hardly for it. Still the game is so well balanced that you will want to try again adjusting accordingly. Love learning about the specimens and having a way of recording their data at the base. From my side the developers already have a fantastic foundation. There is currently 1 map full of intricacies to learn. Looking forward to the new maps. However I don't think the game needs a lot of maps but instead making each map big and complex full of details to learn and for the specimens to exploit against you. The game is already at a great state. Oh and also it would be great if the other player animations are interpolated :-)
