About
Species: Unknown is a first-person survival horror game, playable in co-op with up to 4 players (private or public servers) or solo. You play as a mercenary sent aboard an abandoned spaceship. Your job? Execute high-risk contracts, make it out alive, and claim your reward. But keep in mind that you’re not alone. Something is hunting you…
Form a squad of up to 4 players to take on different contracts with escalating difficulty. Each mission plays differently depending on your objective, your teammates, the map and which of the 5 intelligent threats is stalking you. No one survives alone, but you can try.

Proximity Chat & Radio are available: distance matters, walls matter. Proximity Chat is bringing more tension, sometimes chaos, and unforgettable moments to your co-op sessions.

Every contract drops you into a different nightmare. Whether you're tasked with extracting a black box, capturing or eliminating an unknown threat, or even destroying the ship to prevent the creature from escaping… Each mission demands a specific strategy and none of them are easy.
The specimen is chosen procedurally from a growing roster of terrifying monsters. Each one comes with distinct behaviors, hunting patterns, strengths, and weaknesses. You’ll need to investigate your surroundings to gather vital clues and identify the threat in order to proceed smoothly (or not). Do your job and get rewarded, or die without anyone knowing.

Strategize as a group, make smart use of your tools that can turn the tide, if only for a moment:
Motion Tracker : Detect nearby movement and prepare for what's coming
Shield : Block deadly attacks and buy time for your team
Health Syringe : Heal yourself or allies in the heat of battle
Mini-Map : Navigate pitch-black corridors with real-time positional data
Guns won’t always save you. Some threats are too resistant or simply untouchable. But the right weapon, found at the right time, can help you push through or even take the creature down.

The higher the risk, the higher the reward. Completing contracts earns you credits you can use to:
Upgrade your gear
Buy new tools
Customize your appearance
Gather lore and build your own creature museum

Very fun but very laggy so a preformance update would be nice but its still super fun

Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 18.86/day in the week to Jul 31 → 19.57/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,420 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

ekstremt morsomt spill, men blir fort lite å gjøre pga at det er i early access, 10/10 would recommend
Incredibly fun game. I'll touch on SOME pros and cons below, but the TLDR is this game is 100% worth your time and these DEVS definitely have earned my trust going forward. Pros: I'm usually of the expectation that early access games aren't going to look all that great. Figuring that the dev time would be better spent on optimization and content. But holy hell, this game is BEAUTIFUL! from the hyperspace sequence, to the monsters, to the level design, this game never stops pleasing the eye. Would like to be able to skip the flashbang at the start/end of each level but it's almost worth it based on how pretty everything else is. So naturally you'd expect with that much time into the graphics that the game would be a mess of bugs and poor optimization, right? Nope. I've been playing from the US with an Australian friend of mine and there's been zero desync, no crashes, and putting the lobbies together has been seamless every time. really impressed with how stable things are. The monsters are horrifying. From human faced dog monsters, to zombie infesting necromorphs, to spectral horrors beyond my understanding, there isn't a single entity that I find as a low point. Super excited that this seems to be a big focus point for the devs as we've already received some new ones since the game released to EA. Definitely going to need to build on the arsenal to keep things fresh, but it's a wonderful start. The weapons feel good. The shotgun feels chunky like a shotgun should, the AR feels solid, and the Sub feels light and nimble. Even when your goal isn't to kill whatever monster decided to infest the ship that day, they make you feel better about having them. I've never felt so naked as when I first picked a mission that took away my sidearm. While almost entirely useless in most cases, that thing does wonders to make a man feel more secure in his life or death situation. Would like to see some more variety here, but I understand it's not the focal point of the game. Cons: Level design... With only one map so far, I was hoping that there would be a bit more change to how you interact with it. So far it's just run to bridge, run to objective area, do the same 1 of 3 puzzles, and extract. It's not a total con but I was hoping there would be a bit more variety at least as far as what doors were locked or not. It's a great first impression, but becomes dull quickly. Super excited to see the new levels they have in the roadmap. After you have encountered each enemy for the first time, there is no more unknown to your species. Board the ship, find your first corpse, immediately know who you're dealing with. The only exception being eaten faces because there are 2 entities that do that, except that they both make entirely different noises in the vent so you'll know just by listening which one it is. Easiest way to fix this would be to remove the bodies from the starting area, and the ambient vent noises until you see the monster for the first time. Let your first body found be on the main bridge, or in one of the unlocked sub areas after the power is on. Vent movement. The entity you are facing knows where you are at all times. They don't get an exact location, but are brought close enough that it might as well be. Despite opening the doors to all 3 sub locations of the ship, your new friend will constantly be exactly where you are at all times. There is no hiding, and on later difficulties there isn't much running. Aggression level increases with danger level and time in the level so it's only going to get worse. Could be fixed with true hiding spots, a larger wander area for the monster, or a more in depth AI. The last one probably won't happen for a plethora of reasons but I quickly grew tired of ending up in a bedroom with a monster dropping in directly behind me despite my "stealthy" approach to gathering keycards. --- Not a con / Not a pro --- The in game proximity voice chat is a bit... unfinished. It's a newer addition and a very welcome one, but the delay is massive in a lot of my lobbies regardless of who I'm playing with. I'd recommend sticking to Discord until they polish it up a bit.
Cute fun game better on mouse and keyboard I find but defo good fun
Its fun, I am hoping for more map varieties though. A mode with a random generated ship would be a solid addition to the game. I also have been pretty much only getting the floaty head drill robot so some higher chances of getting different aliens would be nice.

Well now you can! Get Species Unknown today and test your wits against a trove of individual sci-fi horror concepts as they try to rip you to shreds! Buy it today! [This AD was NOT paid for by horrible space sci-fi concepts hoping that you'll buy this game.]
Buen juego.
Amazing game! It's in early access and it already has me hooked, can't wait to see more!
