About
Species: Unknown is a first-person survival horror game, playable in co-op with up to 4 players (private or public servers) or solo. You play as a mercenary sent aboard an abandoned spaceship. Your job? Execute high-risk contracts, make it out alive, and claim your reward. But keep in mind that you’re not alone. Something is hunting you…
Form a squad of up to 4 players to take on different contracts with escalating difficulty. Each mission plays differently depending on your objective, your teammates, the map and which of the 5 intelligent threats is stalking you. No one survives alone, but you can try.

Proximity Chat & Radio are available: distance matters, walls matter. Proximity Chat is bringing more tension, sometimes chaos, and unforgettable moments to your co-op sessions.

Every contract drops you into a different nightmare. Whether you're tasked with extracting a black box, capturing or eliminating an unknown threat, or even destroying the ship to prevent the creature from escaping… Each mission demands a specific strategy and none of them are easy.
The specimen is chosen procedurally from a growing roster of terrifying monsters. Each one comes with distinct behaviors, hunting patterns, strengths, and weaknesses. You’ll need to investigate your surroundings to gather vital clues and identify the threat in order to proceed smoothly (or not). Do your job and get rewarded, or die without anyone knowing.

Strategize as a group, make smart use of your tools that can turn the tide, if only for a moment:
Motion Tracker : Detect nearby movement and prepare for what's coming
Shield : Block deadly attacks and buy time for your team
Health Syringe : Heal yourself or allies in the heat of battle
Mini-Map : Navigate pitch-black corridors with real-time positional data
Guns won’t always save you. Some threats are too resistant or simply untouchable. But the right weapon, found at the right time, can help you push through or even take the creature down.

The higher the risk, the higher the reward. Completing contracts earns you credits you can use to:
Upgrade your gear
Buy new tools
Customize your appearance
Gather lore and build your own creature museum

From what I've played, it's a VERY well-produced take on an Alien-style horror co-op. Whoever made this was a big fan of that series, and they captured the essence well! Much higher production value than I was expecting, and the escape sequence mechanics were very well thought out and engaging! Not much else to say, just genuinely impressed, even if it's something I would only really play with friends who are ready to lock in.
We really do enjoy this game, we hope for more content. More maps would be nice. And we would like the plush of the little octopuss to stay in the ship when we return from a mission.

Too few observations to say whether a discount moves this store's chart at all: across the last 30 days Steam · Top Sellers · Poland has just 18 day-to-day chart moves that followed a price cut, against 2,498 that did not. We are publishing the count instead of a direction — 20 is the fewest we will draw a conclusion from, and price collection outside the United States began on 6 August 2026.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

its fun!
Great little coop game for a group of friends to jump into! Good environment design and sound and creativity all blend into one to create very atmospheric missions. Hard at this point to say how long the environments and ambiance will stay fresh for, but the game is terrific value at the current price point.
What a game - Tense, atmospheric, beautiful. I have an older system and it runs well and is really well optimised. The game is challenging without any of the BS . Only worry is that the gameplay loop may get a little repetitive, but that has not happened yet and I think new maps and monsters will stop that. Highly recommend! Also this a game you want to experience by going in dark. If you are trying first time with a friend that has a high amount of knowledge on the game, ask if you can lead. I experienced the game with someone new to the game as well and it was great fun, but if I started the game with an experienced player who told me what to do, I don't think I would of enjoyed the game as much. The fun part of the game is learning, not mastering.
Locking a room specifically made for the locking from within simply opens, when an enemy follows you inside. This is not difficulty, the game breaks its own rules.
We're adding this to our game night rotation! Truly worth the price!
The game is very fun. Although you will need at least 1 friend to play (not required but the game isnt really fun without a friend) which is okay. A much bigger issue I have is with some of the specimens. The octupus thing is super inconsitent and a little more info about how he works inside of the game would be nice. The other one I have an issue with is the little robot thing which isnt NOT scary just annoying. Altough i have to say most of the other monsters are quite fun to play against. I think a monster that could be cool is one that would have had the ability to seperate you from your teammates since there isnt really a situation where your not glued to your friends. The game does look promising and im looking forward to the new map coming out soon !
Phasmophobia, but in space, with more content and weapons... It's pretty good. Nothing amazing, but an enjoyable first time experience.
