Spacefolk city is a unique city builder. Instead of being give a plot of land to develop on. You are give a small cubed garage floating in space to build onto. You can place the building in any way. Sideways, upside down, any way you can make it fit. It sort of reminds me of playing Tetris, make the blocks fit together. You collect asteroids and break them down into building material. You then build a city for the most bizarre looking citizens. The game has a great sound track and colorful graphics, and easy to use controls. Your goal is to expand your city, and keep the space folk happy. The space folk are some of the most bizarre characters I have ever seen. You will be challenge with trying to get all the buildings to fit within the power grid. You can build any way you want in space. Upside down, houses laying on their sides. As long as the space folk can access the doors to the building, you are doing fine. You then have to decorate each building with odd objects like, hotdogs, bananas, books and more. I found this to be more then just a city builder game, its also a puzzle on how to get everything to fit and work. This is a very fun city building game, with 8 different levels, a sandbox mode, and 3 special themed levels. If you are into city builder games, you have to try this one out. Its like no other city builder out there. You will build a city that is out of this world. Watch my preview here, https://youtu.be/vVSpvOy-zyY
enjoyable and don't know of any other games on VR in this genre
Works on Reverb G2. Spacefolk City is a chill VR city builder focused more on aesthetics rather than gameplay. You can create truly unique cramped urban hellscapes with its 3D structure positioning, but there is not much else to do. Gameplay loop is very simple: you catch space debris to get resources for building houses and decorations. City population grows by increasing people happiness: every alien species likes its own style of furnishings and having special buildings around. You can also assign jobs to them, but there are total of like 4 of them including builder. And that's about it: there is no fail states, only one type of very mild dangers from environment and few similar objectives to achieve on every level from the campaign, bonus maps and free style modes. It is enjoyable and relaxing, but there is not much depth to it. Designing a city is where the game really shines: every building can be positioned on the 3D grid with 45 degrees of rotation and connected with all sorts of ladders, bridges, slides and ropes. And there are about 300 of decorations that can be attached to any flat surface of sufficient size. The result always looks uniquely weird. Music is a bit silly but fun, which suits the game perfectly. Visuals are minimalistic, but cute. I especially appreciate huge space skyboxes: so many VR games use small low detail backgrounds for better performance on Quest hardware, ruining a lot of atmosphere of the environments.
