About
Space Food Truck is a cooperative, culinary scifi adventure. 1-4 players take on unique roles aboard the Galaxy Gourmet. Their mission: explore a vast, procedurally-generated galaxy in search of exotic ingredients, craft delicious recipes, and build a powerful collection of items and abilities to withstand the untold dangers of deep space.
Your team's goal is to complete all of your recipe objectives, which means collecting ingredients, crafting each dish, and taking it to the planet that's craving it. Each of the four unique roles aboard your ship contribute in their own way, and they'll all need to work in concert to succeed! Just like on a real space food truck.

The Captain plots your ship's course, scouring the galaxy for stronger items and tastier ingredients.
The Chef collects ingredients that other players discover and crafts them into delicious dishes. He occasionally eats his own cards.
The Scientist researches each of the roles on your ship, choosing which crew members to empower with new abilities. He'll sometimes stumble upon artificial ingredients.
The Engineer repairs and upgrades the ship, which is constantly pummeled by misfortune.
Each character begins the game with a small deck of 10 cards, which you'll play to move around the ship and do your job. You must add a card to your personal deck each turn, and you'll be reshuffling and drawing items and abilities from it all game long. Your goal is to assemble the strongest, most versatile collection possible to do your job, and ultimately bring honor and glory to your food truck.

An innovative deckbuilder, with an innovation that has put a number of people off: you're forced to buy a card every turn. (Also, the four decks in parallel thing is potentially a bit rough, although it was manageable for me.) This means that managing bloat is very important But with that in mind, I was able to win my second game (the first was spent learning things I might have learned from watching the video tutorial), and it was a perfectly enjoyable 3 hours. I'm not sure that I want to go back to it (but I'm not sure I won't), but it's genuinely innovative and was worth the low price.
I have played one single game of Space Food Truck. In order to complete game, which we lost (but that's irrelevant), every single player had to disconnect and reconnect over 6 times each, more for some because the game de-synched WITHOUT WARNING. If not for us being on Discord and updating each other EVERY SINGLE PLAYER TURN we never would have known that quests were either complete or incomplete. Additionally, we would get stuck on black screens, waiting for player turns to end (that had already completed their turn minutes ago), watching phantom turns (things that didn't actually happen) etc. This game is dog water. Do NOT spend your money on it. The concept is fine, and if they simply programmed a game that didn't suck, it would be great, just like Slay the Spire or Across the Obelisk. But they didn't. It's a buggy, unreliable mess.
A cautious thumbs-down for now. Despite being a decent-looking deck-builder with graphics and mechanics more similar to Monster Train than Slay the Spire, the obscure UI makes it quite difficult. There are tons of elements that are not explained and a tutorial gameplay scenario is lacking. I haven't been able to get far on the easiest of difficulties. The sole developer has not been seen or heard of for years, so the remaining bugs are almost certainly not going to be fixed. But if you can fiddle through the obscurities and suboptimalities and are willing to give it a try, it does look promising.
If you like deck building games, this is well thought through, the design, graphics and music are very nice! Considering this was made by 2 people (is that correct?), this is a pretty polished result. I just wish there were stuffs to unlock when beating the game. That would make the replayability rely on more than choosing a harder difficulty tier.
The concept and mechanics are great....when the game worked. DO NOT BUY! The multiplayer desyncs at it's best - sometimes the game doesn't let you and your friend into the lobby or into the multiplayer game set up. The single player cuts out at times as well. Overall if it would be a good game if fixed.
Glitchy engine where animations can force you to reload. The game has multiplayer but those aforementioned glitches make it frustrating. But that's not the point. As far as roguelite deckbuilders go, this is one of the best, a real hidden gem. There's a little RNG and it requires strategizing all four characters together to do well. But the experience of crossing the galaxy in your scrappy ship is very memorable. Learning what each location does, figuring out when to junk core cards, and even the fact you're managing FOUR DECKS, really gives this game a lot of depth that your average deckbuilder on Steam just doesn't have. I'm at 30+ hours and still have only beat half of the difficulty settings. Looking forward to the next 30 hours as I try to tackle Thai Hot (level 3). Not everyone has to play this way, as the game's autosave lets you reload a turn back whenever you die, but since most of those deaths usually mean you're inevitably going to die next turn, I highly recommend playing Ironman every time, and just deleting a save when you die. It's the way I most enjoy experiencing this title and IMO should be the default way to play.
Space food truck is a great designed game and emphasizes teamwork when playing multiplayer! It definitely is a must have game to play with your friends so that you can with together to deliver the food across the galaxy! It's amazing to think this was made by an indie developer! Support games made by indies because they bring us uniqueness to the gaming world and they dedicate so much of their time in bringing us endless amounts of fun and entertainment and that's definitely the price point here you won't be disappointed by this awesome deck building strategy RPG right here! Thanks for an awesome game onemanleft! Can't wait for your other games!
Very buggy game. Many buttons have issues being clicked and interacted with. The next turn button consistently says I need to select a card if I select a card and then click it without waiting for the full animation to complete. The audio controls are unresponsive. I had hoped that after I first played the game they would get around to patching and fixing this game, but years later and it is still having issues. Would not recommend, even on sale. There are better games in this genre out there that has better deck mechanics and are better programmed.
Good game. I do wish there was more content to provide a more diverse play experience. Sometimes the game glitches out when playing with others but if you just close and reopen the game and return to were you were its not a big deal.
So fun and addicting!!! Just wish there were more cards and ingredients to give different game play!
