About
Your whole ship must work together to defeat the enemy:
Projectiles cross the void between ships, where you can buff yours and weaken theirs.
Then they're unleashed! Projectiles close in real time, and placement is everything: point defense cannons shoot them down, shields absorb what gets through, and a well-placed grav turret can deflect volleys away entirely. Destruction is brutal and detailed, chunks being torn off the hull, bit-by-bit. Once the hull is breached, projectiles wreak havoc in the soft underbelly within.
Each part of the ship has a specific purpose. Destroy their weapon mounts and they can't fire until repaired. Take out their engines and they lose the ability to evade. If you spot a gap in their armor or shields, hit that first. Each enemy ship is a different puzzle to dismantle.
You will have to decide where your crew need to be during combat. An engineer at their post might squeeze some more thrust from the engines, but what if the hull needs repairing? Or there is a fire spreading through the ship?
The Reptorians can't believe their luck after capturing Earth - they find us humans utterly delicious. Millions are being consumed as light snacks every day. Get back to Earth quickly, but make sure you're strong enough to defeat the Reptorian battle fleet when you get there.
