This game doesn't work -- It requires you to create a Ubisoft account and if your birthday is on a leap year it won't let you create an account.. Stupid.
Full disclosure: I actually really enjoyed this game, but the Ubisoft Connect launcher is the main reason why I can't recommend it to others right now. The hardest part about the game was starting it. Every time you try and start the game, the Ubisoft Connect launcher tries to sync save games and achievements. However, there were so many times where it said it failed to connect and/or sync, and the only way to fix it would be to restart my PC. It's one of the most annoying things I've ever encountered, especially because this is a single-player game. If they get rid of the launcher, then I would definitely recommend it. The writing is hilarious, and it's basically like playing a long South Park episode....if you're lucky enough to have the game actually start.
Not as good as the first game. Got pretty far in and ran into a bug where my hud disappears between rounds of combat, forcing me to alt tab to get it to reappear. That gets really annoying during timed interactions like fighting spontaneous bootay. On top of that you need to use Ubisoft connect and have an account to even play these games. Definitely wouldn't pick this up for full price, if you wanna check it you should probably wait for sale.
The game is great, but the Ubisoft launcher ruins everything. I wanted to play for the first time without DLC, but it is completely unclear how to disable them in the launcher, and I did not want to waste another hour to figure it out. Besides, I had to turn off Ubisoft notifications in the launcher settings that constantly appeared during the game. Also, it is unclear why Ubisoft Club is even needed if the button in the game does not work anyway. In addition to everything, registration is mandatory, and it is impossible to skip the launcher when starting the game. In the end, I spent about 40 minutes just on setup and attempts to figure out this launcher.
TM: TM suffers from Ubisoft. If you like South Park, The Fractured But Whole is a long episode you get to play through. It's a direct sequel to the Stick of Truth, and was fun for me. There are some issues with the game (on steamdeck I experienced combat effectively fast forwarding and enemies skipping their activations, both issues were rare) and achievements (The Token Experience failed to unlock after my first playthrough). Those issues could be disregarded if Ubisoft allowed you to play without connecting to their services. As it is, I recommend playing Stick of Truth as a standalone game.
South Park: The Fractured But Whole
This game is an acquired taste. If you're not easily offended and are a fan of South Park, then this game is for you. PROS: - Funny and engaging story. - Smooth gameplay on the Steam Deck CONS: - None
