South of Midnight

South of Midnight has a wonderful story with like-able characters, and a great art style to boot. However, I found the gameplay, mainly the combat, lackluster.

Amazing storytelling, great visuals, fun exploration and combat, although those last two get a bit repetitive so I've been taking breaks with other games.

A great action adventure game with solid platforming. The art sytle and music blend perfectly to tell a compelling narrative. The combat gets to become quite fun when you unlock all the abilities. The game is a little on the short side beating after 11 hours, but is still enjoyable.

If you want a captivating story with truly awesome visuals, art style and animations then support this game. Truly the most defining use of art in video games. If you're someone who only cares about combat then look elsewhere. Everything else is 10/10.

It's pretty good.

I liked the narrative, Southern Gothic influences and inspirations, art, environments, and music. There was a lot of heart put into this game. It was beautiful to look at, experience, and exist in the world for a bit. Combat could use some improvement with the stiff movements and awkward camera angles, but you can lower the difficulty or adjust the settings to turn off combat and/or chase sequences among other preferences, which I appreciated. I played on my Steam Deck and lowered the frame rate. I didn't have any issues playing. If you like to explore different cultures, folklores, and stories in your video games and media, this is definitely one to play.

Loved this game so much! I wish I could zoom in on things just to enjoy the details that the artists put into this work but other than that no huge concerns.
